Background: The primary cause of antimicrobial resistance is excessive and non-indicated antibiotic use.
Aim: To evaluate the impact of a multifaceted intervention aimed at various healthcare professionals (HCPs) on antibiotic prescribing and dispensing for common infections.
Design And Setting: Before-and-after study set in general practice, out-of-hours services, nursing homes, and community pharmacies in France, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, and Spain.

Context: Obesity is associated with low vitamin D and recent studies have suggested a difference in vitamin D metabolism between females and males.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of weight loss on vitamin D status in individuals with obesity, and secondarily, whether vitamin D metabolism differs between women and men.
Methods: Secondary analysis from a randomized placebo-controlled trial, designed to investigate the efficacy of 52 weeks of treatment with either liraglutide, exercise or combined, compared with placebo on weight loss maintenance after an 8-week low-calorie diet-induced weight loss in 195 individuals with obesity (BMI 32-43 kg/m2).

Purpose/objective: The Danish Breast Cancer Group (DBCG) IMN2 study investigated the gain from internal mammary node irradiation (IMNI) in node-positive breast cancer patients. IMNI was indicated in right-sided patients, but not in left-sided. Target volume delineations were based on bony landmarks in contrast to the contemporary vessel-based ESTRO consensus guideline.

: Predicting mortality in emergency departments (EDs) using machine learning models presents challenges, particularly in balancing simplicity with performance. This study aims to develop models that are both simple and effective for predicting short- and long-term mortality in ED patients. Our approach uses a minimal set of variables derived from one single blood sample obtained at admission.

Background: Clinical trials demonstrate the efficacy and tolerability of medications targeting calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) signaling for migraine prevention. However, these trials may not accurately reflect the real-world experiences of more diverse and heterogeneous patient populations, who often have higher disease burden and more comorbidities. Therefore, postmarketing safety surveillance is warranted.

Aims: Iron deficiency (ID) is prevalent in chronic heart failure (HF) but lacks a consensus definition. This study evaluates the prevalence and the prognostic impact of ID using different criteria on all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, as well as first hospitalization for HF in patients with new-onset chronic HF.
Methods: In this nationwide registry-based cohort, we explored four definitions of ID: the current European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines [ferritin <100 ng/mL or ferritin 100-299 ng/mL and transferrin saturation (TSAT) <20%], ferritin level <100 ng/mL, TSAT < 20% and serum iron ≤13 μmol/L.

Risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) undergoing contemporary treatment is unclear. cHL patients ≥ 18 years at diagnosis treated with doxorubicin-containing chemotherapy between 2000 and 2022 were matched 1:5 with comparators on birth year, sex, and Charlson Comorbidity Index at time of matching (score of 0 or ≥ 1). Cause-specific cumulative incidence of a composite of CVDs with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were computed with death and lymphoma relapse as competing events (i.

Aims: Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of hospitalization, and sex differences in care have been described. We assessed sex-specific clinical outcomes and healthcare resource utilization following hospitalization for HF.
Methods And Results: This was an exploratory analysis of patients hospitalized for HF across 10 Canadian hospitals in the Patient-Centered Care Transitions in HF (PACT-HF) cluster-randomized trial.

Background: Following international guidelines, communities have deployed automated external defibrillators at train stations without substantive evidence.
Methods And Results: We geocoded public out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) (2016-2020), automated external defibrillators, and train stations. The stations were divided into the following groups according to passenger flow: 1 (0-499), 2 (500-4999), 3 (5000-9999), and 4 (>10 000) passengers per day.

Background: Fractional flow reserve (FFR) or non-hyperaemic pressure ratios are recommended to assess functional relevance of intermediate coronary stenosis. Both diagnostic methods require the placement of a pressure wire in the coronary artery during invasive coronary angiography. Quantitative flow ratio (QFR) is an angiography-based computational method for the estimation of FFR that does not require the use of pressure wires.

Introduction: Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is caused by pathogenic variants in the APC gene. FAP is usually categorized according to phenotype: classical FAP (CFAP) and attenuated FAP (AFAP); the latter is considered to have a milder disease course. We aimed to assess the risk of overall and specific cancers in patients with CFAP and AFAP compared with matched, nonexposed individuals.

Objective: To assess the validity of the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) chorionicity-specific models for fetal growth in twin pregnancy.
Methods: This was an external validation study of the FMF models using a nationwide Danish cohort of twin pregnancies. The cohort included all dichorionic (DC) and monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twin pregnancies with an estimated delivery date between 2008 and 2018, which satisfied the following inclusion criteria: two live fetuses at the first-trimester ultrasound scan (11-14 weeks' gestation); biometric measurements available for the calculation of estimated fetal weight (EFW) using the Hadlock-3 formula; and delivery of two liveborn infants.

Introduction: Patients with immediate type allergic reactions to penicillins are at risk of anaphylaxis on reexposure. Diagnostic gold standard is drug provocation test (DPT) if allergy is not diagnosed by other means, such as skin testing or in vitro testing with measurement of specific IgE. Specific IgE testing carries low risk for the patient and blood sampling can be performed in primary care, but it is reported to have low sensitivity.

Introduction: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) carry the risk of immune-related adverse events (irAEs), a significant concern as therapy has transitioned to the adjuvant setting. Balancing therapeutic benefits against potential risks is crucial, necessitating real-world data from an unselected patient population in addition to clinical trial data to ensure optimal clinical decision-making.
Methods: This nationwide real-world study assessed irAEs in patients receiving adjuvant anti-PD1 therapy, primarily nivolumab, for resected stage III-IV melanoma between 2018-2022.
