Objective: Prolonged labor is the commonest indication for intrapartum cesarean section, but definitions are inconsistent and some common definitions were recently found to overestimate the speed of physiological labor. The objective of this review is to establish an overview of synonyms and definitions used in the literature for prolonged labor, separated into first and second stages, and establish types of definitions used.
Data Sources: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Emcare, and Academic Search Premier.

Background: In settings where general anaesthesia is unnecessary, effective sedation, analgesia and local anaesthesia are crucial for optimal outcomes. Traditionally, sedation have been managed and controlled by healthcare professionals, but advancements in pharmacology and technology have renewed the way we are able to sedate. Patient-controlled sedation (PCS) offers a promising approach, allowing patients to adjust their sedation levels during procedures.

Background: Lyme borreliosis is a tick-borne disease caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) sensu lato complex. Previous studies have suggested an association between Lyme borreliosis and heart failure, which have been suggested to be a possible manifestation of Lyme carditis. We aimed to investigate the risk of heart failure among individuals tested for serum Bb antibodies, and serum Bb seropositive individuals.

Background: Risk prediction models are used for many purposes in emergency surgery, including critical care triage and benchmarking. Several risk prediction models have been developed, and some are used for purposes other than those for which they were developed. We aim to provide an overview of the existing literature on risk prediction models used in emergency surgery and highlight knowledge gaps.

Objectives: To investigate the short- and long-term risks of atrioventricular block and other cardiac conduction disorders associated with being tested for Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) antibodies or Bb seropositivity as measures of confounding by indication and Bb infection, respectively.
Methods: We performed a nationwide population-based matched cohort study (Denmark, 1993-2021). We included 52 200 Bb-seropositive individuals (stratified as only Bb-IgM-seropositive [n = 26 103], only Bb-IgG-seropositive [n = 18 698], and Bb-IgM-and-IgG-seropositive [n = 7399]) and two age- and sex-matched comparison cohorts: 104 400 Bb-seronegative individuals and 261 000 population controls.

Introduction: Groin hernias in adolescents are rare and their management is associated with challenges for surgeons as some adolescents are fully grown, whereas others are not. Current groin hernia guidelines only differentiate between young children and adults; hence, no guidelines exist that may aid surgeons in handling adolescents. The aim of this study was to explore surgeons' considerations on the management of groin hernias in adolescents.

Objectives: In a nationwide, matched cohort study, we aimed to investigate risks of haematologic cancers among individuals tested for Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) antibodies, and among serum Bb seropositive individuals.
Methods: We identified all Bb seropositive individuals in Denmark (1993-2020) (n = 52 200) and constructed two age- and sex-matched comparison cohorts: (a) Bb seronegative controls (n = 104 400) and (b) background population controls (n = 261 000). We calculated short-term OR (aOR) (<1 month of study inclusion), and long-term hazard ratios (aHR) (>1 month after study inclusion) adjusted for age and sex.

Introduction: The Danish Medicines Council recommends that patients with estrogen receptor and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative, programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1)-positive advanced breast cancer receive atezolizumab in combination with nab-paclitaxel. The approval was largely based on results from Impassion130 that showed a beneficial progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in PD-L1-positive patients who received atezolizumab and nab-paclitaxel.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective, population-based study that included patients who received atezolizumab for advanced breast cancer from October 2019 to September 2022.
