Objective: Trampolines are popular among children, but trampoline injuries constitute a large number of emergency department visits. The purpose of this study was to determine how often neck injuries occur among children with trampoline-related injuries and to identify the mechanism of injury.
Methods: We analyzed the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) database to characterize patient demographics, injury types, injury subsite, and emergency department disposition status associated with trampoline related neck injuries between 2012 and 2021 in the United States.

Background: Residual back pain (RBP) is one of the complications following percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in older people with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). The vertebral bone quality (VBQ) score obtained from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to evaluate bone quality. The objective of this study aimed to explore the potential relationship between the VBQ score and RBP after PVP.

Background: Pharyngeal perforation has been documented as a consequence of substantial external force applied to the neck. Such trauma is frequently accompanied by additional organ injury and cervical fracture. In this report, we present an exceptionally rare instance in which minor blunt trauma to the neck resulted in pharyngeal injury without concomitant damage to other organs.

Following spinal cord injury (SCI), there is a short-lived recovery phase that ultimately plateaus. Understanding changes within the spinal cord over time may facilitate targeted approaches to prevent and/or reverse this plateau and allow for continued recovery. Untargeted metabolomics revealed distinct metabolic profiles within the injured cord during recovery (7 days postinjury [DPI]) and plateau (21 DPI) periods in a mouse model of severe contusion SCI.

Lung transplantation is the most effective treatment for end-stage respiratory diseases, but its application is limited by the shortage of organs. Ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) has emerged as a promising technique to evaluate and recondition donor lungs previously deemed unsuitable for transplantation. However, limitations such as lung contusions, air leaks, and perfusate extravasation, especially in portable EVLP systems, hinder the procedure.

Introduction: Elbow joint is the most common affliction in upper limb tuberculosis (TB). A review of literature shows varying clinical presentations of TB in the elbow, with and without detectable primary foci.
Case Report: We report a rare case of post-traumatic reactivation of latent TB of elbow which mimicked septic arthritis, in a healthy adult who suffered an elbow contusion injury following an road traffic accident.

Epidural electrical stimulation (EES) could restore motor function of paralyzed limbs of patients with spinal cord injury (SCI). However, its invasiveness limits its application in early stage of injury. Photobiomodulation (PBM) utilizes infrared light for percutaneous irradiation of the spinal cord to protect nerve tissue, delay muscle atrophy, and can be applied in early stage of SCI due to its non-invasiveness.

Introduction: Judo, a martial art created by Jigoro Kano in 1882, is a martial art promoting physical and spiritual development. Despite its "gentle way" philosophy, it poses a significant risk for cervical spine injuries, often resulting from throws and ground techniques.
Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed cervical injuries among professional judo athletes from January to July 2024.

Cervical spinal cord injury usually leads to cardiorespiratory dysfunction due to interruptions of the supraspinal pathways innervating the phrenic motoneurons and thoracic sympathetic preganglionic neurons. Although clinical guidelines recommend maintaining the mean arterial pressure within 85-90 mmHg during the first week of injury, there is no pre-clinical evidence from animal models to prove the therapeutic efficacy of hemodynamic management. Accordingly, the present study was designed to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of hemodynamic management in rats with cervical spinal cord contusion.

Background: Polytrauma and hemorrhagic shock can lead to direct and indirect liver damage involving intricate pathophysiologic mechanisms. While hepatic function has been frequently highlighted, there is minimal research on how the receptor activator of the NF-κB (RANK)/RANK ligand (RANKL)/osteoprotegerin (OPG) system is regulated in the liver following trauma. Furthermore, cross-talking complement and toll-like-receptor (TLR) systems can contribute to the posttraumatic response.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) results in damage to neural circuits that cause long-term locomotor and sensory disability. The objective of the present study is to evaluate whether a clinical drug, protamine, can be employed as a therapeutic agent for SCI. First, we examined the rescue effect of protamine on dystrophic endballs (DEs) cultured on a chondroitin sulfate (CS) gradient coating.

There are few reports on long-term treatment of bovine osteomyelitis. In this study, two cattle (Japanese black heifer and calf) suffered damage to the dorsal metatarsal below the tarsus due to their hind limbs becoming caught in a metal fence, with consequent struggling and thrashing, causing osteomyelitis of the metatarsal. We present these two cases of osteomyelitis of the metatarsal and compare their: clinical conditions, effects of long-term treatment, and clinical outcomes.

Unlabelled: This study involves longitudinal neuro-electrophysiological analysis using motor-evoked potentials (MEP) and the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan behavioral examinations (BBB) to evaluate moderate mid-thoracic contusive spinal cord injury (SCI) in a rat model.
Objectives/background: The objective of the study is to characterize the onset and progression of contusive SCI over an eight-week period using a clinically applicable tool in an in vivo model. The background highlights the importance of a reliable and reproducible injury model and assessment tools for SCI.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) often results in persistent disabilities, primarily due to deficient axon regeneration and irreversible neuronal loss. Sports training is a widely adopted intervention in clinical practice and research to promote axonal sprouting and synaptic plasticity, thereby improving motor function after SCI. However, the precise mechanisms by which sports training improves motor function after SCI remain incompletely understood.

Introduction: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of disability and mortality worldwide, with epidural hematoma (EDH) being a severe consequence. This study focuses on identifying factors predicting EDH volume changes in TBI patients and developing a machine learning (ML) model to predict EDH expansion.
Methods: The study includes patients with traumatic EDH between 2019 and 2021.
