Objectives: Despite protections offered in California, there is limited understanding of abortion access in underserved regions, including the Central Valley. Furthermore, there has been limited community involvement, especially from those directly affected, in the development of research priorities in abortion care. We utilized the Research Prioritization of Affected Communities (RPAC) protocol to identify research priority topics and research questions for future abortion-related research.

Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) regulates both oxidative stress and mitochondrial biogenesis. Our previous study reported the cardioprotection of calycosin against triptolide toxicity through promoting mitochondrial biogenesis by activating nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1), a coregulatory effect contributed by Nrf2 was not fully elucidated. This work aimed at investigating the involvement of Nrf2 in mitochondrial protection and elucidating Nrf2/NRF1 signaling crosstalk on amplifying the detoxification of calycosin.

Background: Despite increases in modern contraception use, socioeconomic inequalities in family planning persist. In this study, we aimed to measure progress in reducing socioeconomic inequalities in modern contraceptive prevalence rate (mCPR) and demand for family planning satisfied by modern methods (mDFPS) in 48 countries as part of the Family Planning 2030 (FP2030) initiative between 1990 and 2020 for which Demographic and Health Survey data were available.
Methods: We analysed two rounds of Demographic and Health Survey data per country.

Active pharmaceutical ingredients, such as levonorgestrel (LNG), continue to increase in aquatic ecosystems and are detected in environmental matrices; however, their ability to bioaccumulate and cause reproductive, developmental, and biochemical defects in benthic organisms, such as Macrocyclops albidus, is unknown. This study investigated the effects of LNG on the oxidative stress response, reproduction, and development of M. albidus.

Hemorrhage is a common postpartum complication and, though rare, is also a recognized risk associated with abortion. While most cases can be managed with uterine evacuation and uterotonic agents, some cases require additional surgical procedures. We present two cases, one of hemorrhage following dilation and evacuation, and the other of delayed postpartum hemorrhage, where a Foley catheter was used for vacuum-induced hemorrhage control.

Numerous community and professional myths and misconceptions around hormonal contraception exist, many promulgated through social media. As a result of these and other factors, people are moving away from hormonal methods and potentially exposing themselves to increased risk of unintended pregnancy. A number of key myths and misconceptions have been identified in a range of papers and here we summarise the evidence around the basis for these misunderstandings.

Objective: Idiopathic central precocious puberty (CPP) precipitates epiphyseal fusion of growth plates in long bones, leading to reduced adult stature. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues (GnRHa) are the treatment of choice for idiopathic CPP, but their benefit on height gain is unclear. We aimed to elucidate the effects of GnRHa treatment on adult height in girls with idiopathic CPP.

We used 2016-2021 Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System data from seven sites ( = 30,125). We used multivariable logistic regression to assess indicators of emotional IPV and provider counseling associated with postpartum contraceptive use.

Background: Postpartum family planning (PPFP) is an essential component of birth care that helps avert maternal and newborn health hazards by preventing short-spaced births. Many Asian and African studies found PPFP counselling during antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC) effective in increasing PPFP uptake. Studies in Bangladesh, however, provided limited evidence of the feasibility and effectiveness of integrating PPFP in maternal health services.

We suggest that this might influence the choice of an OCP in such patients. A 20-year-old female was diagnosed with Addison's disease (cortisol: 44 nmol/L, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH): >500 pg/mL) and started on hydrocortisone (HC).

Introduction: Cariprazine (CAR) is a potent dopamine receptor partial agonist antipsychotic approved by the EMA and the FDA. To address the uncertainty regarding the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives during CAR co-administration and whether a second barrier method is necessary, a drug-drug interaction study with an oral contraceptive was conducted post-approval.
Methods: The phase I, fixed-sequence multicenter study involved two periods with 24 patients with schizophrenia, aiming to evaluate the effect of CAR on the pharmacokinetics (PK) of a combined oral contraceptive (COC) containing 30 μg ethinylestradiol (EE) and 150 μg levonorgestrel (LNG).
