Air pollution by chemical or bacteriological pollutants is not limited to a geographical area at the discrete border. Also, factors taken into account in the risk analysis such as patient age, seasons, socio-economic background or race are far from being necessary as discrete values. Often used analysis tools are limited to statistical analyzes.

Purpose: Luminal, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative breast cancer represents the most common subtype of breast malignancies. Neoadjuvant strategies of operable breast cancer are mostly based on chemotherapy, whereas it is not completely understood which patients might benefit from neoadjuvant hormone therapy (NAHT).

Materials And Methods: The SAFIA trial is a prospective multicenter, international, double-blind, neoadjuvant phase III trial, using upfront 21-gene Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score assay (recurrence score [RS] < 31) to select operable luminal human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative patients, for induction hormonal therapy HT (fulvestrant 500 mg with or without goserelin) before randomly assigning responding patients to fulvestrant 500 mg (with or without goserelin) plus either palbociclib (cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitor) or placebo.

Background And Purpose: Recent cross-sectional study data suggest that intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) in patients with in-hospital stroke (IHS) onset is associated with unfavorable functional outcomes at hospital discharge and in-hospital mortality compared to patients with out-of-hospital stroke (OHS) onset treated with IVT. We sought to compare outcomes between IVT-treated patients with IHS and OHS by analysing propensity-score-matched data from the Safe Implementation of Treatments in Stroke-East registry.

Methods: We compared the following outcomes for all propensity-score-matched patients: (i) symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage defined with the safe implementation of thrombolysis in stroke-monitoring study criteria, (ii) favorable functional outcome defined as a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 0-1 at 3 months, (iii) functional independence defined as an mRS score of 0-2 at 3 months and (iv) 3-month mortality.

Many computational tools have been proposed during the two last decades for predicting piRNAs, which are molecules with important role in post-transcriptional gene regulation. However, these tools are mostly based on only one feature that is generally related to the sequence. Discoveries in the domain of piRNAs are still in their beginning stages, and recent publications have shown many new properties.

In Silico Prediction of RNA Secondary Structure.

Methods Mol Biol

February 2018

IBISC, UEVE/Genopole, 23 bv. de France, 91000, Evry, France.

The secondary structure of an RNA molecule represents the base-pairing interactions within the molecule and fundamentally determines its overall structure. In this chapter, we overview the main approaches and existing tools for predicting RNA secondary structures, as well as methods for identifying noncoding RNAs from genomic sequences or RNA sequencing data. We then focus on the identification of a well-known class of small noncoding RNAs, namely microRNAs, which play very important roles in many biological processes through regulating post-transcriptionally the expression of genes and which dysregulation has been shown to be involved in several human diseases.
