Objectives: To assess diagnosis and therapeutic decisions-making by General Practitioners (GP) using ApnealinkTM® (AL) in patients with high suspicion of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), in comparison with conclusions of Hospital Sleep Unit (HSU) specialists based on home respiratory polygraphy (PGR) results.

Methods: This study involved patients previously selected by HSU for sleep testing by PGR. After it, patients were offered to complete AL test.

Effectiveness of an educational intervention and physical exercise on the functional capacity of patients on haemodialysis.

Objective: To describe the impact of a standard hospital educational intervention including active physical exercises on personal well-being, functional capacity and knowledge of the benefits of prescribed physical activity for patients undergoing haemodialysis.

Method: An uncontrolled, quasi-experimental, before-and-after study with repeated measures of response variables at 4, 8 and 12 weeks after participating in an educational and physical exercise hospital intervention. It was performed at the Nephrology Unit at the Hospital Complex in Vic within september and december 2014.

Background And Objective: Recent studies in critically ill patients receiving insulin intravenous therapy (IIT) have shown an increased incidence of severe hypoglycemia, while intermittent subcutaneous insulin «sliding scales» (conventional insulin therapy [CIT]) is associated with hyperglycemia. The objective of this study is to assess whether glycemic control range IIT can affect glucose levels and their variability and to compare it with CIT.

Patients And Method: Prospective comparative cohort study in intensive care unit, with 2 study periods: Period 1, IIT with glycemic target range 110-140 mg/dL, and Period 2, IIT of 140-180 mg/dL.

Objectives: Knowing the evolution of health outcomes of surgical patients during their hospital stay, evaluating NOC outcome criteria at admission and discharge.

Material And Methods: Prospective observational study conducted in the surgical hospital wards of the Hospital General de Vic, with patients who required surgical intervention of any specialty, of 18 or more years old and anesthetic risk levels I, II or III. The main outcome variables were indicators associates with each NOC of a standard of care based on the "patient type" concept.

Personal Health Records shared between patients and their health team can improve the capacity of the patients to become active partners in the care of their own health. PHR can offer the patients access to their medical information, services, such as resources programming, or communication between the members of the health team and the patient. They could also allow patients themselves to directly register certain data, be picked up from home monitoring devices, thus becoming a very useful tool in the management of chronic disease and for the prevention and promotion of health.

Objective: To describe a model of surgical "patient type" by identifying the needs and characteristics of surgical patients.

Method: We performed a cross-sectional study of surgical patients with one or more diseases and similar needs and/or characteristics admitted to the surgical wards of a general hospital over a 10-month period. The variables analyzed were sociodemographic and clinical data, degree of autonomy, and Virginia Henderson's needs, which were identified through an interview performed in the postoperative period.
