Higher air pollution exposure and shorter leukocyte telomere length (LTL) are both associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), and share plausible mechanisms, including inflammation. LTL may serve as a biomarker of air pollution exposure and may be intervened with to reduce the risk of CHD. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to test the mediation effect of LTL in the relationship between air pollution exposure and incident CHD.

Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have been shown to improve glucose and lipid homeostasis, promote weight loss, and reduce cardiovascular risk factors. They are a promising therapeutic option for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the most common liver disease, associated with T2DM, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. GLP-1RAs have been approved for the treatment of T2DM and obesity, but not for NAFLD.

Unlabelled: In response to luteinizing hormone, multiple proteins in rat and mouse granulosa cells are rapidly dephosphorylated, but the responsible phosphatases remain to be identified. Because the phosphorylation state of phosphatases can regulate their interaction with substrates, we searched for phosphatases that might function in LH signaling by using quantitative mass spectrometry. We identified all proteins in rat ovarian follicles whose phosphorylation state changed detectably in response to a 30-minute exposure to LH, and within this list, identified protein phosphatases or phosphatase regulatory subunits that showed changes in phosphorylation.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to describe the clinical complications, treatment use, healthcare resource utilization (HCRU), and costs among patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) with recurrent vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) in the US.

Methods: Merative MarketScan Databases were used to identify patients with SCD with recurrent VOCs from March 1, 2010, to March 1, 2019. Inclusion criteria were ≥ 1 inpatient or  ≥ 2 outpatient claims for SCD and ≥ 2 VOCs per year in any 2 consecutive years after the first qualifying SCD diagnosis.

Summary: Low-affinity interactions among multivalent biomolecules may lead to the formation of molecular complexes that undergo phase transitions to become supply-limited large clusters. In stochastic simulations, such clusters display a wide range of sizes and compositions. We have developed a Python package, MolClustPy, which performs multiple stochastic simulation runs using NFsim (Network-Free stochastic simulator); MolClustPy characterizes and visualizes the distribution of cluster sizes, molecular composition, and bonds across molecular clusters.

This systematic review aimed to assess the following questions: (1) what organizational assessments exist for measuring racism and equity? (2) How are these assessments meant to be completed? (3) What constructs are typically assessed for in these measures? (4) What are the psychometric properties of these measures? Assessments were located by searching PubMed/MEDLINE (including non-MEDLINE and pre-MEDLINE), Scopus, CINAHL Plus with Full Text, PsycInfo, SocIndex, Dissertations & Theses Global, and the Trip Database through June 27, 2022. Cited and citing references of included assessments were also screened. In total, 21 organizational assessments assessing equity, racial equity, health equity, racism, and cultural competency were located.

Ticagrelor and aspirin is a common dual antiplatelet therapy regimen for patients who undergo percutaneous coronary intervention. Despite its ability to significantly reduce cardiovascular complications, ticagrelor response may be altered by other medications causing subtherapeutic effects. Traditionally, ticagrelor is thought to have fewer drug-drug interactions compared to other thienopyridine antiplatelet medications such as clopidogrel.

Purpose: The quality of medical physics education is heterogenous across training programs, despite its importance in radiation oncology (RO) residency training. We present the results of a pilot series of free high-yield physics educational videos covering 4 topics chosen from the American Society for Radiation Oncology core curriculum.

Arthroplasty implants can undergo corrosion at the modular components, trunnion, and hinges, owing to implant material makeup, micromotion, and interaction with body fluid. In this review, various mechanisms of corrosion in arthroplasty were explored with suggestions on means of improvement. We identified 10 methods including pitting, crevice, mechanically assisted crevice corrosion, fretting, fretting initiated crevice corrosion, mechanically assisted taper corrosion, galvanic corrosion, stress/tension, fatigue corrosion, and inflammatory cell induced corrosion.

Walnuts are a rich source of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs: alpha-linolenic acid, ALA), tocopherols, antioxidant polyphenols (including ellagitannins), and prebiotics, including fiber (2 g/oz).
