Yuebi Plus Banxia Decoction is derived from the Synopsis of the Golden Chamber(Jin Gui Yao Lue) by ZHANG Zhong-jing. With the effects of ventilating lung, discharging heat, descending adverse Qi, and relieving cough and asthma, this prescription is mainly used to treat pulmonary distension caused by phlegm heat obstructing the lungs. Currently, it is commonly used in clinical practice for the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, acute bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchial asthma, pulmonary heart disease, and pertussis.

In the context of Acute Pulmonary Edema (APE), the old school moto was LMNOP, for "Lasix-Morphine-Nitrates-Oxygen-Positive Pressure". However, this mnemonic, while not entirely inaccurate, deserves revision or at least a slight reinterpretation. APE remains a well-known condition in emergency departments, with a high mortality rate.

Proficiency in basic lung ultrasound is highly recommended for clinicians in general and internal medicine. This article will review and provide guidance for novice users on how to use lung ultrasound in clinical practice, through a pathology-oriented approach. The authors recommend a 12-zone protocol and describe how to perform and apply it in clinical practice while examining patients with clinical suspicion for the following diseases: pleural effusion, heart failure, pneumonia (bacterial and viral), interstitial lung disease, and pneumothorax.

Background: The reduction of pulmonary congestion is an essential clinical target in the management of chronic heart failure. The remote dielectric sensing (ReDS) system is a recently introduced non-invasive technology used to easily estimate the degree of lung fluid volume without any expert techniques.
Objective: To conduct a comparative assessment of pulmonary congestion according to ultrasound and ReDS technology in patients hospitalized with decompensation of chronic heart failure (CHF).

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a severe lung condition with a high mortality rate for which there are no effective therapeutics. The failure of the alveolar-capillary barrier, composed of lung endothelial (EC) and alveolar epithelial (AEC) cells, is a critical factor leading to excessive inflammation and edema characteristic of acute lung injury (ALI) pathophysiology. Phosphodiesterases (PDE) are enzymes well-recognized for their roles in regulating endothelial permeability and inflammation.

The coexistence of heart failure (HF) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is common and poses a serious threat to human health because these diseases have a high degree of commonality at the vascular level. However, the diagnosis of HF in primary care can be challenging, leading to the risk of inadequate management of both conditions. Using two case reports as examples, we attempt to shed light on the issues involved in this challenge.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is the most common cause of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) in Singapore. ESKD patients have high disease burden and are at increased risk of recurrent hospitalizations, including fluid overload. This study aimed to characterize the risk factors associated with readmissions for fluid overload that will identify high-risk hospitalizations for interventions to reduce readmissions.

High-altitude regions pose distinctive challenges for cardiovascular health because of decreased oxygen levels, reduced barometric pressure, and colder temperatures. Approximately 82 million people live above 2400 meters, while over 100 million people visit these heights annually. Individuals ascending rapidly or those with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions are particularly vulnerable to altitude-related illnesses, including Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) and Chronic Mountain Sickness (CMS).

Background: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common medical condition that is associated with clinically significant sequelae, including postthrombotic syndrome (PTS). Anticoagulation alone remains the guideline-recommended treatment for many patients with iliofemoral DVT. Recent technological advances have led to an increase in the use of mechanical thrombectomy for DVT, but mechanical thrombectomy-based procedures have not yet been compared with standard-of-care anticoagulation therapy in randomized studies.
