Analysis of delayed cerebral ischemia incidence after treatment for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage in young adults: A cohort study.

Background: This study aimed to analyze the incidence of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) and outcome stratified by age in patients who suffered aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Methods: A cohort study with patients from Christ the Redeemer Hospital from 2014 to 2020, with 359 patients separated into 2 groups, 48 of them aged under 40 years and 311 aged 40 years or over.

Results: In patients under 40 years of age, DCI was found in 81.

Oral impact of dental prosthesis use in different patterns of tooth loss.

Statement Of Problem: Tooth loss is a critical indicator of oral health and negatively impacts oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) depending on the number and location of the missing teeth. Reports of oral rehabilitation have been conflicting depending on the tooth loss pattern and prostheses provided.

Purpose: The purpose of this population-based study was to evaluate the association between the use of different dental prostheses according to different tooth loss patterns and OHRQoL.

Introduction: The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread rapidly, with 37 million cases and more than 699,000 deaths. Among intensive care unit (ICU) patients with COVID-19, a high incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) has been observed, ranging from 50 to 80%; furthermore, 85.9% were calculated to have high nutritional risk, which doubled their odds of death.

Bacterial coinfections in COVID-19-hospitalized patients.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the rate of bacterial infections in COVID-19-hospitalized patients and to analyze the most prevalent germs, sources, risk factors, and its impact on in-hospital mortality.

Methods: This observational retrospective study was conducted on 672 patients hospitalized between April and August 2020 in Nossa Senhora da Conceição Hospital, a public hospital located in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The inclusion criterion was adult patients hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19.

Pineal anlage tumor: a case report and review of the literature.

Purpose: Pineal anlage tumors (PAT) are extremely rare malignant tumors in the pediatric population considered to be a variant of pineoblastomas. These tumors are characterized by a combination of neuroectodermal and heterologous ectomesenchymal components. Effect of oral exercises and photobiomodulation therapy in the rehabilitation of patients with mandible fractures: randomized double-blind clinical trial.

Evaluate the effectiveness of photobiomodulation (PBM) associated with oral exercises for rehabilitation of patients with mandible fractures. In this randomized clinical trial, we compared PBM with PBM sham in 14 adults with mandibular fractures who underwent surgical intervention.

Association between dental visits at primary care and glycated hemoglobin level in patients with type 2 diabetes: a cohort study.

Objective: To evaluate the association between dental visits and variation in the glycated hemoglobin index (A1C) of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) with well or not well glycemic control over time.

Methods: Patients with T2DM, A1C ≥ 7% (not well-controlled) and < 7% (well-controlled), who attended a primary care service and were followed up from January 2010 to May 2018. The outcome was the variation of A1C obtained from reference laboratories.

Research Design And Methods: We compared results from CPX tests on a cycle ergometer in individuals with type 1 diabetes and control participants without type 1 diabetes. Parameters were peak and threshold variables of VO, heart rate, and power output.

Nutritional intervention strategies for the management of overweight and obesity in primary health care: A systematic review with meta-analysis.

A systematic review with meta-analysis (MA) was conducted to synthesize the effectiveness of nutrition intervention strategies for managing overweight and obesity in the adult population attending primary health care. Relevant articles were searched in the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane and LILACS databases from inception to January 2020. Seventy studies were identified: 45 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 25 uncontrolled before-after studies (UBAs).

Emotional distress in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Aim: This study aimed to analyze the association between emotional distress and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) values in adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), with respect to dental anxiety, microvascular diabetes chronic complications, demographic conditions.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of home-care nursing intervention on the burden of family caregivers for older adults surviving a stroke. A randomised clinical trial blinded for outcome evaluation. Forty-eight family caregivers of older adults surviving a stroke took part in the study.

Maternal perinatal depression and infant sleep problems at 1 year of age: Subjective and actigraphy data from a population-based birth cohort study.

This study used data from 2,222 mothers and infants participating in a population-based birth cohort to verify whether maternal depression in the perinatal period was associated with poor infant sleep. Mothers who scored ≥13 points on the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale at 16-24 weeks of gestation and/or 3 months after delivery were considered perinatally depressed. The main outcome variable was poor infant sleep at 12 months of age, defined as >3 night wakings, nocturnal wakefulness >1 hr or total sleep duration <9 hr.

Sense of coherence and impact of oral health on quality of life in adults and elderly in Southern Brazil.

This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the association between the Sense of Coherence and impact of oral health on the quality of life. Was conducted with a sample of 720 individuals of both sexes, between the ages of 50 and 74 years, selected through multistage proportional random sampling. The data collection instruments used were: short version of the Sense of Coherence Scale (SOC-13), Oral Impacts on Daily Performances (OIDP) questionnaire, oral clinical examination and questionnaire containing socio demographic and use of dental services information.
