We have developed a method for virtual deformation of the breast using a biomechanical model automatically constructed from MRI. Multimodal image registration is applied in medical image analysis as it allows the integration of complementary data from multiple imaging modalities. In recent years, various neural network-based approaches for medical image registration have been presented in papers, but due to the use of different datasets, a fair comparison is not possible. Purpose: Modern high-amplitude gradient systems can be limited by the International Electrotechnical Commission 60601-2-33 cardiac stimulation (CS) limit, which was set in a conservative manner based on electrode experiments and E-field simulations in uniform ellipsoidal body models. Here, we show that coupled electromagnetic-electrophysiological modeling in detailed body and heart models can predict CS thresholds, suggesting that such modeling might lead to more detailed threshold estimates in humans. Specifically, we compare measured and predicted CS thresholds in eight pigs.

Methods: Pulmonary fractional ventilation and normalized perfusion maps were obtained using DMD from simulated phantoms as well as in vivo dynamic acquisitions of healthy volunteers at 1.5T.

Precise instrument placement plays a critical role in all interventional procedures, especially percutaneous procedures such as needle biopsies, to achieve successful tumor targeting and increased diagnostic accuracy. C-arm cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has the potential to precisely visualize the anatomy in direct vicinity of the needle and evaluate the adequacy of needle placement during the intervention, allowing for instantaneous adjustment in case of misplacement. However, even with the most advanced C-arm CBCT devices, it can be difficult to identify the exact needle position on CBCT images due to the strong metal artifacts around the needle.

Rationale: Brain iron accumulation has been observed in neuropsychiatric disorders and shown to be related to neurodegeneration.
Objectives: In this study, we used quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), an emerging MRI technique developed for quantifying tissue magnetic susceptibility, to examine brain iron accumulation in individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and its relation to compulsive drinking.
Methods: Based on our previous projects, QSM was performed as a secondary analysis with gradient echo sequence images, in 186 individuals with AUD and 274 healthy participants.

Background: Uterine fibroid embolisation (UFE) is an established treatment method for symptomatic uterine myomas. This study evaluates the efficacy of UFE using objective magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data for size and perfusion analysis as well as patient questionnaires assessing fibroid-related symptoms.
Method: Patients underwent MR-Angiography before UFE and 4 days, 6 and 12 months after the procedure.

Nasal septum defects can currently only be reconstructed using autologous cartilage grafts. In this study, we examine the reconstruction of septal cartilage defects in a rabbit model using porcine decellularized nasal septal cartilage (DNSC) functionalized with recombinant platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDFG-BB). The supportive function of the transplanted DNSC was estimated by the degree of septum deviation and shrinkage using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Purpose: Powerful MRI gradient systems can surpass the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60601-2-33 limit for cardiac stimulation (CS), which was determined by simple electromagnetic simulations and electrode stimulation experiments. This retrospective study aims to evaluate the generalizability of a promising state-of-the-art multitask deep learning (DL) model for predicting the response of locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) using a multicenter dataset. To this end, we retrained and validated a Siamese network with two U-Nets joined at multiple layers using pre- and post-therapeutic T2-weighted (T2w), diffusion-weighted (DW) images and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps of 83 LARC patients acquired under study conditions at four different medical centers. To assess the predictive performance of the model, the trained network was then applied to an external clinical routine dataset of 46 LARC patients imaged without study conditions.

Methods: Each projection is 2D-3D registered on a prior image with AKAZE feature detection and brute force matching.
