The aim of this study was to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of such an alternate package compared with existing smoking cessation services alone (current package).
Methods: A literature search was conducted to identify internet-based smoking cessation interventions in the Netherlands.

However, there is limited information about an overlapping toxicity of PD-1 inhibitors when administered following thoracic radiotherapy (TRT). Asthma, hay fever (or allergic rhinitis) and eczema (or atopic dermatitis) often coexist in the same individuals, partly because of a shared genetic origin. To identify shared risk variants, we performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS; n = 360,838) of a broad allergic disease phenotype that considers the presence of any one of these three diseases. We identified 136 independent risk variants (P < 3 × 10), including 73 not previously reported, which implicate 132 nearby genes in allergic disease pathophysiology.

The term "precision medicine" has become very popular over recent years, fuelled by scientific as well as political perspectives. Despite its popularity, its exact meaning, and how it is different from other popular terms such as "stratified medicine", "targeted therapy" or "deep phenotyping" remains unclear. Commonly applied definitions focus on the stratification of patients, sometimes referred to as a novel taxonomy, and this is derived using large-scale data including clinical, lifestyle, genetic and further biomarker information, thus going beyond the classical "signs-and-symptoms" approach.

The possible impact of ultrafine particles from laser printers on human health is controversially discussed although there are persons reporting substantial symptoms in relation to these emissions. A randomized, single-blinded, cross-over experimental design with two exposure conditions (high-level and low-level exposure) was conducted with 23 healthy subjects, 14 subjects with mild asthma, and 15 persons reporting symptoms associated with laser printer emissions. To separate physiological and psychological effects, a secondary physiologically based categorization of susceptibility to particle effects was used.

Background: Various factors may affect lung function at different stages in life. Since investigations that simultaneously consider several factors are rare, we examined the relative importance of early life, current environmental/lifestyle factors and allergic diseases on lung function in 15-year-olds.
Methods: Best subset selection was performed for linear regression models to investigate associations between 21 diverse early life events and current factors with spirometric parameters (forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in 1 s and maximal mid-expiratory flow (FEF)) in 1326 participants of the German GINIplus and LISAplus birth cohorts.

Estimation of physical activity using 24 h-accelerometry requires detection of accelerometer non-wear time (NWT). It is common practice to define NWT as periods >60 minutes of consecutive zero-accelerations, but this algorithm was originally developed for waking hours only and its applicability to 24 h-accelerometry is unclear. Background/objective: Although the association of disturbed sleep with specific chronic conditions is well known, the relationship between sleep disturbances and multiple diseases is less clear. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to examine the independent relationships of various sleep disturbances with 1) multimorbidity (≥2 chronic conditions) and 2) commonly co-occurring pairs of chronic conditions.
Methods: Analyses were based on data from 4127 individuals aged ≥65 years participating in the population-based cross-sectional Cooperative Health Research in the Region of Augsburg (KORA) Age Study conducted from 2008 to 2009 in Germany.
