This epidemiological study aimed to compare the caries and molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) experience in asthmatic and non-asthmatic adolescents assessed at 10 and 15 years of age. 730 adolescents from ongoing birth cohort studies (GINIplus/LISA) from Munich, Germany, were examined for carious lesions at the age of 10 and 15 years to determine caries experience under inclusion of non-cavitated carious lesions D1-2T and the tooth-related decay-missing-filled index. Furthermore, MIH was scored on all permanent teeth according to the criteria of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry.

The COPD Assessment Test (CAT) is in widespread use for the evaluation of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We assessed whether the CAT items carry additional information beyond the sum score regarding COPD characteristics including emphysema. Patients of GOLD grades 1 to 4 from the COPD cohort COSYCONET (German COPD and Systemic Consequences - Comorbidities Network) with complete CAT data were included (n = 2270), of whom 493 had chest CT evaluated for the presence of emphysema.

Although the overall structure of many classical transient receptor potential proteins (TRPC), including human and murine TRPC6, were recently resolved by cryoelectron microscopy analysis, structural changes during channel activation by 1-oleoyl-1-acetyl-sn-glycerol (OAG), the membrane-permeable analog of diacylglycerol, were not defined. Moreover, data on carboxyl- and amino-terminal interactions were not provided, as the amino-terminal regions of murine and human TRPC6 were not resolved. Therefore, we employed a Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) approach using a small fluorescein arsenical hairpin (FlAsH) targeted to a short tetracysteine sequence at the unresolved amino-terminus and cerulean, a cyan fluorescent protein, as a tag at the carboxyl-terminus of the murine TRPC6 protein.
