Mesoamerican nephropathy (MeN) is Central America's growing endemic renal disorder. No single cause is established, but many risk factors are hypothesized, such as young and medium-aged adults, male sex, work environment, heavy metals and agrochemicals exposure, occupational heat stress, nephrotoxic drug use, and low socioeconomic status. The diagnosis is confirmed by renal biopsy with chronic tubular atrophy and tubulointerstitial nephritis.

In May 2022, the World Health Organization reported an emerging global outbreak of monkeypox virus infection. Clinical manifestations of monkeypox allow us to quickly suspect the disease. Until now, no pregnant women infected with this virus have been reported; however, because of its speed of spread worldwide, it is possible that we will soon observe such cases.

The first patient infected by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in Panama was reported on March 9, 2020. Here, we describe the first case of recovery from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country. The patient was a 49-year-old male high school teacher, who did not show any primary symptoms of COVID-19 described by health authorities as the signs for medical attention.

Arginine, glutamine, nucleotides, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidant micronutrients, make up the nucleus of pharmaconutrients used with that aim, usually as mixtures of them.
