A study evaluated the levels of soluble TIM-3 (sTIM-3) in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) to assess its potential as a clinical diagnostic marker.
The researchers measured sTIM-3 and squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCAg) levels in 199 OSCC patients and 107 healthy individuals using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
Results indicated that both sTIM-3 and SCCAg levels were higher in OSCC patients, and using them together provided better diagnostic accuracy than using each marker alone; sTIM-3 also correlated positively with various clinical factors.
