Background: Management guidelines for stable three-vessel coronary artery disease have become a subject of debate. We aim to provide a benchmark for the survival of patients with normal ejection fraction, stable three-vessel disease, and elective coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
Methods: Data from consecutive patients with normal ejection fraction undergoing elective primary isolated CABG for triple-vessel disease in a diverse 11-center surgical network between 2008 and 2020 were analyzed.

We report the synthesis and characterization of octahedral UiO-66 nanocrystals ( = 17-25 nm) terminated with amine, oleate, and octadecylphosphonate ligands. Acetate capped UiO-66 nanocrystals were dispersed in toluene using oleic acid and oleylamine. The basic idea is to treat ESM time series as outputs of an autoregressive process, with parameters that depend on those of the ESM. The maximum likelihood estimate of the parameters and the associated uncertainties are derived.

Background: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic led to social isolation and widespread lockdown, resulting in loneliness and lack of emotional support, which have been associated with adverse mental health outcomes. This study aims to explore the relationship of loneliness and emotional support with depression and substance use among young adults and their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: A cohort of 1227 participants was recruited from three ongoing cohort studies in the metropolitan area of New York City, USA.
Introduction: Both micro- and macrostructural white matter (WM) abnormalities, particularly those related to axonal degeneration, are associated with cognitive decline in adults with Down syndrome (DS) prior to a diagnosis of Alzheimer disease. Neurofilament light chain (NfL) is a support protein within myelinated axons released into blood following axonal damage. In this study we investigated cross-sectional relationships between WM microstructural changes as measured by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and plasma NfL concentration in adults with DS without dementia.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFSolar heating of the upper ocean is a primary energy input to the ocean-atmosphere system, and the vertical heating profile is modified by the concentration of phytoplankton in the water, with consequences for sea surface temperature and upper ocean dynamics. Despite the development of increasingly complex modeling approaches for radiative transfer in the atmosphere and upper ocean, the simple parameterizations of radiant heating used in most ocean models can be significantly improved in cases of near-surface stratification. There remains a need for a parameterization that is accurate in the upper meters and contains an explicitly spectral dependence on the concentration of biogenic material, while maintaining the computational simplicity of the parameterizations currently in use.

The phase separation of biomolecules into biomolecular condensates has emerged as a ubiquitous cellular process. Understanding how intrinsically disordered protein sequence controls condensate formation and material properties has provided fundamental biological insights and led to the development of functional synthetic condensates. While these studies provide a valuable framework to understand subcellular organization phase separation they have largely ignored the presence of folded domains and their impact on condensate properties.

Solar energy facilities are rapidly expanding in their land-use footprint worldwide, with significant implications for biodiversity. Although the impacts of conventional solar development are often negative for biodiversity, it is possible for some species to take advantage of the novel anthropogenic structures and microhabitats provided by solar facilities. We describe the frequent nesting of non-native European paper wasps () at two solar facilities in the Central Valley of California (USA), conducting nest censuses to further investigate population density and nest siting behaviour.

Intestinal transplantation (ITx) is the definitive treatment for intestinal failure but has the highest rejection rate among solid organ transplants, requiring high doses of immunosuppressive medication, which is associated with high rates of infection, graft-versus-host disease, and malignancy. Transplant tolerance would overcome the need for long-term immunosuppression (ISP). Using nonmyeloablative conditioning, our laboratory has developed a novel swine model of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) that produces durable mixed chimerism (MC) and immune tolerance without toxicity.
