FGF19/FGF15 is an endocrine regulator of hepatic bile salt and lipid metabolism, which has shown promising effects in the treatment of NASH in clinical trials. FGF19/15 is transcribed and released from enterocytes of the small intestine into enterohepatic circulation in response to bile-induced FXR activation. Previously, the TSS of FGF19 was identified to bind Wnt-regulated TCF7L2/encoded transcription factor TCF4 in colorectal cancer cells.

Background: Coronary sinus (CS) ostial atresia/abnormalities prevent access to the CS from the right atrium (RA) for left ventricular (LV) lead implantation. Some patients with CS ostial abnormalities also have a small persistent left superior vena cava (sPLSVC).
Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe CS ostial abnormalities and sPLSVC as an opportunity for LV lead implantation and unrecognized source of stroke.
Introduction: Hepatitis B vaccination among healthcare workers (HCWs) in Ghana has not been actively pursued despite the endemicity of the infection. This study measures the hepatitis B vaccine uptake among HCWs at the University of Ghana Hospital, Legon (UGHL) and identifies the factors associated with vaccination.
Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study involving all staff who have direct contact with patients was conducted.

Background: Social anxiety disorder (SAD) typically onsets in adolescence and is associated with multiple impairments. Despite promising clinical interventions, most socially anxious adolescents remain untreated. To address this clinical neglect, we developed a school-based, 12-week group intervention for youth with SAD, Skills for Academic and Social Success (SASS).

The expansion of the GGGGCC hexanucleotide repeat in the non-coding region of the Chromosome 9 open-reading frame 72 (C9orf72) gene is the most common genetic cause of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This genetic alteration leads to the accumulation of five types of poly-dipeptides translated from the GGGGCC hexanucleotide repeat. Among these, poly-proline-arginine (poly-PR) and poly-glycine-arginine (poly-GR) peptides are known to be neurotoxic.

Objective: This study tested whether discrepancy between patients' and therapists' ratings of the therapeutic alliance, as well as convergence in their alliance ratings over time, predicted outcome in chronic depression treatment.
Method: Data derived from a controlled trial of partial or non-responders to open-label pharmacotherapy subsequently randomized to 12 weeks of algorithm-driven pharmacotherapy alone or pharmacotherapy plus psychotherapy. The current study focused on the psychotherapy conditions (N = 357).

To evaluate buprenorphine training methodology, we surveyed physicians who had completed a combined online and in person buprenorphine curriculum. Of 53/70 (76%) survey respondents, 57% were psychiatrists and 40% generalists. On a scale of 1 (very poor) to 7 (superlative), the overall training rated a mean of 5.

Dynamic properties of microtubules contribute to the establishment of spatial order within cells. In the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, interphase cytoplasmic microtubules are organized into antiparallel bundles that attach to the nuclear envelope and are needed to position the nucleus at the geometric center of the cell. Here, we show that after the nucleus is displaced by cell centrifugation, these microtubule bundles efficiently push the nucleus back to the center.

In a patient with clinical features of both myoclonus epilepsy ragged-red fibers (MERRF) and Kearns-Sayre syndrome (KSS), we identified a novel guanine-to-adenine mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutation at nucleotide 3255 (G3255A) of the tRNA(Leu(UUR)) gene. Approximately 5% of the skeletal muscle fibers had excessive mitochondria by succinate dehydrogenase histochemistry while a smaller proportion showed cytochrome c oxidase (COX) deficiency. In skeletal muscle, activities of mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes I, I + III, II + III, and IV were reduced.

Objective: To determine whether subjects with insomnia report greater reductions in quality of life (QoL) than subjects without insomnia when assessed with self-report instruments.
Methods: Questionnaires were completed by individuals recruited through media advertisements and screened with a structured telephone interview. Data obtained from 261 individuals with insomnia (INS group) were compared with those of 101 individuals with no sleep complaint, or controls (CTL group).

Delusions usually respond to antipsychotic medications. When delusions are present within certain diagnostic categories, however, pharmacotherapy other than or in addition to antipsychotic agents is indicated. Many delusional disorders have been found to respond to pimozide even after failing to respond to other antipsychotic agents.
