Purpose: To determine potential quadriceps versus hamstring tendon autograft differences in neuromuscular function and return to sport (RTS)-success in participants after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.

Methods: Case-control study on 25 participants operated on with an arthroscopically assisted, anatomic ipsilateral quadriceps femoris tendon graft and two control groups of 25 participants each, operated on with a semitendinosus tendon or semitendinosus-gracilis (hamstring) tendon graft ACL reconstruction. Participants of the two control groups were propensity score matched to the case group based on sex, age, Tegner activity scale and either the total volume of rehabilitation since reconstruction (n = 25) or the time since reconstruction (n = 25).

Methods: Peer-reviewed literature was analyzed regarding different topics relevant to osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLTs) treatment. This process concluded with a statement for each topic reflecting the best scientific evidence available for a particular diagnostic or therapeutic concept, including the grade of recommendation. Introduction: Endoscopic treatment by vacuum therapy (EVT) or covered stents has emerged as an improved treatment option for upper gastrointestinal wall defects and is regarded as an improved treatment option for anastomotic leakage (AL) after esophagectomy. However, endoluminal EVT devices may lead to obstruction of the GI tract; and a high rate of migration and missing functional drainage has been shown for covered stents. The recently developed VACStent, a combination of a fully covered stent within a polyurethane sponge cylinder may overcome these issues allowing EVT while stent passage is still open.

Hypertrophic scarring in burn wounds is caused by overactive fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. Blue light reveals wavelength- and dose-dependent antibacterial and antiproliferative effects and may serve as a therapeutic option against wound infection and fibrotic conditions. Cold atmospheric plasmas (CAPs) generated by dielectric barrier discharge (DBD), particularly those containing higher amounts of nitric oxide (NO) or NO derivates (NOD), are attracting increasing interest in medical fields. In the present study, we, for the first time, evaluated DBD-CAP-induced NOD accumulation and therapeutically relevant NO release in calcified bone tissue. This knowledge is of great importance for the development of new therapies against bacterial-infectious complications during bone healing, such as osteitis or osteomyelitis.

Background: Most studies describing traumatic coagulopathy have used data from patient cohorts with an average age of between 35 and 45 years. The last 10 years has seen a steep increase in the number of patients admitted with significant injury and bleeding who are older than the age of 65 years. Many coagulation protein levels alter significantly with normal aging, and it is possible that traumatic coagulopathy has a different signature with age.
