To efficiently detect the maturity stages of Camellia oleifera fruits, this study proposed a non-invasive method based on hyperspectral imaging technology. First, a portable hyperspectral imager was used for the in-field image acquisition of Camellia oleifera fruits at three maturity stages, and ten quality indexes were measured as reference standards. Then, factor analysis was performed to obtain the comprehensive maturity index (CMI) by analyzing the change trends and correlations of different indexes.

Brassinosteroids (BRs) are involved in the regulation of biotic and abiotic stresses in plants. The molecular mechanisms of BRs that alleviate the drought stress in quinoa have rarely been reported. Here, quinoa seedlings were treated with 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) and we transiently transferred to the quinoa seedlings' leaves using VIGS technology to analyze the molecular mechanism of the BR mitigation drought stress.

In view of the problem of poor coupling adaptability and easy rib spalling of coal wall in large mining height comprehensive mining, based on the effective inhibition effect of face guard mechanism on coal wall spalling, the structural characteristics and bearing capacity of different structural forms of the face guard mechanism are compared and analyzed. According to the surrounding rock adaptability of the face guard mechanism, established a numerical analysis model for rigid-flexible coupling of the face guard mechanism under different spalling forms. In order to accurately simulate the stress state of the protective mechanism, a variable stiffness spring damping system is used to replace the hydraulic cylinder.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) (previously called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, NAFLD) is associated with cardiometabolic risk factors and chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, evidence is lacking regarding whether the severity of fibrosis is affected by these risk factors and diseases and to what degree. We aimed to determine the correlation between these factors and vibration-controlled transient elastography-determined liver stiffness measurements (LSMs) and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) values in a sample of the US population.

College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Shandong University of Science and Technology, Qingdao, 266590, Shandong Province, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how the design of the coal cowl, such as its offset distance and tilt angle, affects the loading rate of coal for thin seam mining using a shearer drum.
  • Results indicate that a smaller offset distance positively impacts loading rates, while the tilt angle has a complex effect, initially increasing and then decreasing the loading rate.
  • The research highlights the importance of optimizing the coal cowl parameters to enhance coal loading performance in thin coal seam mining operations.

Background: The rapid and accurate detection of moisture content is important to ensure maize quality. However, existing technologies for rapidly detecting moisture content often suffer from the use of costly equipment, stringent environmental requirements, or limited accuracy. This study proposes a simple and effective method for detecting the moisture content of single maize kernels based on viscoelastic properties.

Because large oil-immersed transformers are enclosed by a metal shell, the on-site localization means it is difficult to achieve the accurate location of the patrol micro-robot inside a given transformer. To address this issue, a spatial ultrasonic localization method based on wavelet decomposition and PHAT-β-γ generalized cross correlation is proposed in this paper. The method is carried out with a five-element stereo ultrasonic array for the location of a transformer patrol robot.

Aspergillus flavus and its toxic metabolites-aflatoxins infect and contaminate maize kernels, posing a threat to grain safety and human health. Due to the complexity of microbial growth and metabolic processes, dynamic mechanisms among fungal growth, nutrient depletion of maize kernels and aflatoxin production is still unclear. In this study, visible/near infrared (Vis/NIR) hyperspectral imaging (HSI) combined with the scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to elucidate the critical organismal interaction at kernel (macro-) and microscopic levels.

Due to the influence of structural clearances, the shearer's oscillates and jumps concerning the scraper are frequent, which induces the collision and vibration impact of the traction components and exacerbates the traction failure of the shearer. Therefore, to explore the correlation between attitude disturbance and traction vibration, an experiment on the traction vibration is carried out, the spatial swaying of the shearer and vibration differences between two traction components are obtained, the influence of the lifting angle of the rocker arm is discussed, and the influence mechanism of the shearer attitude disturbance on traction vibration is elucidated. The results indicate that the rolling swing intensity of the shearer is the highest while the yawing swing intensity is the lowest, and the pitch swing intensity increases with the increase of the lifting angle of the rocker arm.

Background: Accurate detection of weeds and estimation of their coverage is crucial for implementing precision herbicide applications. Deep learning (DL) techniques are typically used for weed detection and coverage estimation by analyzing information at the pixel or individual plant level, which requires a substantial amount of annotated data for training. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using image-classification neural networks (NNs) for detecting and estimating weed coverage in bermudagrass turf.

Using electrochemical water splitting to generate hydrogen is considered a desirable approach, which is greatly impeded by the sluggish dissociation of HO and adsorption and desorption of H*. Effective hydrogen production can be achieved by speeding up the chemical process with a suitable electrocatalyst. In this work, we designed and synthesized a rare earth element cerium (Ce) regulated iron-nickel bimetallic phosphide Ce-NiFeP@NF (here NiFeP represents FeP/NiP) nanoarray with nanoflowers.

In light of the prevalent issues concerning the mechanical grading of fresh tea leaves, characterized by high damage rates and poor accuracy, as well as the limited grading precision through the integration of machine vision and machine learning (ML) algorithms, this study presents an innovative approach for classifying the quality grade of fresh tea leaves. This approach leverages an integration of image recognition and deep learning (DL) algorithm to accurately classify tea leaves' grades by identifying distinct bud and leaf combinations. The method begins by acquiring separate images of orderly scattered and randomly stacked fresh tea leaves.

Concentrated coal slime serves as a clean and promising fluid fuel and is commonly employed via pipeline transportation. Currently, there are still limitations in understanding the rheological properties of coal slime, including its yield stress, viscoelasticity, and the impact of factors, such as temperature, on these properties. Therefore, we conducted tests to examine the rheological properties and yield stress of coal slime at various temperatures for two different concentrations using a pipeline transportation system and rheometers.

Foggy images affect image analysis and measurement because of their low definition and blurred details. Despite numerous studies on haze in natural images in hazy environments, the recovery effect is not ideal for processing hazy images in sky areas. A dark channel priori technique for processing haze images with sky areas where atmospheric light values are misestimated and halo artefacts are produced, as well as an improved dark channel priori single-image defogging technique based on image segmentation and joint filtering, are proposed.
