Tire-derived rubber crumbs (RC), as a new type of microplastics (MPs), harms both the environment and human health. Excessive use of plastic, the decomposition of which generates microplastic particles, in current agricultural practices poses a significant threat to the sustainability of agricultural ecosystems, worldwide food security and human health. In this study, the application of biochar, a carbon-rich material, to soil was explored, especially in the evaluation of synthetic biochar-based community (SynCom) to alleviate RC-MP-induced stress on plant growth and soil physicochemical properties and soil microbial communities in peanuts.

The root-associated microbiota plays an important role in the response to environmental stress. However, the underlying mechanisms controlling the interaction between salt-stressed plants and microbiota are poorly understood. Here, by focusing on a salt-tolerant plant wild soybean (Glycine soja), we demonstrate that highly conserved microbes dominated by Pseudomonas are enriched in the root and rhizosphere microbiota of salt-stressed plant.

Protein acetylation can quickly modify the physiology of bacteria to respond to changes in environmental or nutritional conditions, but little information on these modifications is available in rhizobia. In this study, we report the lysine acetylome of Azorhizobium caulinodans strain ORS571, a model rhizobium isolated from stem nodules of the tropical legume Sesbania rostrata that is capable of fixing nitrogen in the free-living state and during symbiosis. Antibody enrichment and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis were used to characterize the acetylome.

Salt stress seriously affects plant growth and crop yield, and has become an important factor that threatens the soil quality worldwide. In recent years, the cultivation of salt-tolerant plants such as has a positive effect on improving coastal saline-alkali land. Microbial inoculation and GABA addition have been shown to enhance the plant tolerance in response to the abiotic stresses, but studies in green manure crops and the revelation of related mechanisms are not clear.

Aeschynomene indica has a distinctive symbiosis with Bradyrhizobium in which nodulation is Nod factor-independent. In this study, we characterised three Gram-negative and rod-shaped strains (83002, 81013 and 83012) isolated from root nodules of Aeschynomene indica in Shandong Peninsula. The major cellular fatty acids of isolates were C, C, C ω7c 11-methyl, summed feature 3 and summed feature 8.

Root colonization and plant probiotic function are important traits of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). SC60, a plant endophytic strain screened from has a strong colonization ability on various plant roots, which indicates that SC60 has a preferable adaptability to plants. However, the probiotic function of the strain SC60 is not well-understood.

Bacterial signal transduction pathways are important for a variety of adaptive responses to environment, such as two-component systems (TCSs). In this paper, we reported the characterization of a transcriptional regulator in ORS571, ActR, with an N-terminal receiver domain and one C-terminal OmpR/PhoB-type DNA binding domain. Sequence analysis showed that ActR shared a high similarity with FtcR regulator of 16M known to be involved in flagellar regulation.

Spatial organization of chemotactic proteins is important for cooperative response to external stimuli. However, factors affecting the localization dynamics of chemotaxis proteins are less studied. According to some reports, the polar localization of chemotaxis system I is induced by hypoxia and starvation in .

Salinity is an important abiotic stress affecting plant growth. We have known that plants can recruit beneficial microbes from the surrounding soil. However, the ecological functions of the core microbiome in salt-tolerant plants, together with their driving factors, remain largely unexplored.

Chemotaxis is essential for the competitiveness of motile bacteria in complex and harsh environments. The localization of chemotactic proteins in the cell is critical for coordinating a maximal response to chemotactic signals. One chemotaxis protein with a well-defined subcellular localization is the phosphatase CheZ.
