Methods: We analysed cross-sectional Aβ-PET collected from 10,361 patients with MCI or mild dementia scanned in 295 PET facilities using one of the 3 FDA-approved tracers.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The Imaging Dementia-Evidence for Amyloid Scanning (IDEAS) study demonstrated that amyloid PET changes patient management in >60% of Medicare beneficiaries with MCI/atypical dementia. IDEAS had limited racial/ethnic diversity and excluded patients with "typical" amnestic clinical presentations. Here we present preliminary results from the New IDEAS study, which evaluates the clinical impact of amyloid PET in a more racially, ethnically and clinically diverse cohort.

Real-World data platforms for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) offer a unique opportunity to improve health equity through better understanding of health disparities and inclusivity in research, which is critical to translatability of research findings. AD research in the US and globally remains largely inaccessible to many individuals due to individual-level, study-level, investigator-level and larger systemic barriers. ALZ-NET, a US-based registry to evaluate longitudinal outcomes of patients being evaluated for or treated with novel FDA-approved AD therapy, and New IDEAS, an observational US-based longitudinal study of amyloid PET clinical utility, both offer opportunities for examining care, inclusivity, and disparities.

Methods: A two-phase explanatory mixed-methods study was conducted. In phase 1, a survey was distributed among AAW eligible for lung, breast, or colorectal cancer screening to assess delays during the pandemic, concerns about contracting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), barriers to care, and experiences of discrimination.

Chronic diffuse liver disease continues to increase in prevalence and represents a global health concern. Noninvasive detection and quantification of hepatic steatosis, iron overload, and fibrosis are critical, especially given the many relative disadvantages and potential risks of invasive liver biopsy. Although MRI techniques have emerged as the preferred reference standard for quantification of liver fat, iron, and fibrosis, CT can play an important role in opportunistic detection of unsuspected disease and is performed at much higher volumes.

Objective: To determine whether stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) improves outcomes in patients with locally advanced HCC compared with sorafenib alone.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter phase 3 randomized clinical trial randomized patients with HCC 1:1 to sorafenib or SBRT followed by sorafenib, stratified by performance status, liver function, degree of metastases, and macrovascular invasion.

The dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) MRI measures of relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV) play a central role in monitoring therapeutic response and disease progression in patients with gliomas. Previous investigations have demonstrated promise of using rCBV in classifying tumor grade, elucidating tumor viability after therapy, and differentiating pseudoprogression and pseudoresponse. However, the quantification and reproducibility of rCBV measurements across patients, devices, and software remain a critical barrier to routine or clinical trial use of longitudinal DSC MRI in patients with gliomas.

Transcranial focused ultrasound (FUS) is a versatile, MR-guided, incisionless intervention with diagnostic and therapeutic applications for neurologic and psychiatric diseases. Purpose: Diagnostic imaging interpretations by nonphysician practitioners (NPPs) are increasing. With hospital-based imaging overwhelmingly interpreted by radiologists, we studied office-based interpretations by NPPs by their physician employer specialty.
Methods: Linking Medicare claims and provider datasets, we identified imaging interpretation claims submitted by nurse practitioners and physician assistants (together NPPs) in office settings, mapping NPPs to physician employer specialties, and assessed NPP characteristics and practice patterns.
