Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been widely used in preclinical trials for treating various tumors. However, the hypoxic environment of tumors and the limited penetration depth of ultraviolet light severely weaken the PDT effect. To solve the above problems, a near-infrared (NIR) light-triggered oxygen (O) self-supplied phototherapeutic platform (UCNPs/CeO/Ce6/BSA) for amplified PDT performance against solid tumors by alleviating tumor hypoxia has been rationally developed.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) for hypoxic tumors has attracted wide attention owing to its noninvasiveness, easy maneuverability, and instantaneity. However, hypoxia in tumors and penetration depth of conventional ultraviolet light has greatly weakened its performance. To solve these problems, under NIR-II light irradiation, squaric acid nanoparticles (SQ NPs) with superior reactive oxygen, especially, hydroxyl radicals (•OH) production performance were first utilized for hypoxic tumor therapy.

Using 3D sonic crystals as acoustic higher-order topological insulators (HOTIs), 2D surface states described by spin-1 Dirac equations at the interfaces between the two sonic crystals with distinct topology but the same crystalline symmetry are discovered. It is found that the Dirac mass can be tuned by the geometry of the two sonic crystals. The sign reversal of the Dirac mass reveals a surface topological transition where the surface states exhibit zero refractive index behavior.

As flexible all-solid-state batteries are highly safe and light weight, they can be considered as candidates for wearable energy sources. However, their performance needs to be first improved, which can be done by using highly conductive solid-state electrolytes. Herein, we prepare a crystallized and amorphous LLTO electrolyte through magnetron sputtering and investigate the effect of heat treatment on its ionic conductivity.

A special class of 2D layered material refers to materials exhibiting phase transition based on environment variables. Among these materials, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) act as a promising alternative for their unique combination of atomic-scale thickness, direct bandgap, significant spin-orbit coupling and prominent electronic and mechanical properties, enabling them to be applied for fundamental studies as catalyst materials.

Background: The aim to develop a highly stable near-infrared (NIR) photoinduced tumor therapy agent stems from its considerable potential for biological application. Due to its long wavelength, biological imaging exhibits a high signal-to-background ratio, deep tissue penetration and maximum permissible light power, which can minimize damage to an organism during photoinduced tumor therapy.
Results: A class of stable NIR-II fluorophores (NIR998, NIR1028, NIR980, NIR1030, and NIR1028-S) based on aza-boron-dipyrromethene (aza-BODIPY) dyes with donor-acceptor-donor structures have been rationally designed and synthesized by harnessing the steric relaxation effect and intramolecular photoinduced electron transfer (IPET).

Controllable construction of diversiform topological morphologies through supramolecular self-assembly on the basis of single building block is of vital importance, but still remains a big challenge. Herein, a bola-type supra-amphiphile, namely DAdDMA@2-CD, is rationally designed and successfully prepared by typical host-guest binding -cyclodextrin units with an aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active scaffold DAdDMA. Self-assembling investigation reveals that several morphologies of self-assembled DAdDMA@2-CD including leaf-like lamellar structure, nanoribbons, vesicles, nanofibers, helical nanofibers, and toroids, can be straightforwardly fabricated by simply manipulating the self-assembling solvent proportioning and/or temperature.

Radioluminescent materials (scintillators) are widely applied in medical imaging, nondestructive testing, security inspection, nuclear and radiation industries, and scientific research. Recently, all-inorganic lead halide perovskite nanocrystal (NC) scintillators have attracted great attention due to their facile solution processability and ultrasensitive X-ray detection, which allows for large area and flexible X-ray imaging. However, the light yield of these perovskite NCs is relatively low because of the strong self-absorption that reduces the light out-coupling efficiency.

It is further revealed that the amorphous Se shell surrounds the crystalline Te core, which not only protects the Te phase from oxidation but also serves as a natural barrier to life entities. The core (Te)-shell (Se) configuration thus exhibits robust stability enhanced by 0.
