Ferroptosis is a novel form of regulated cell death that plays a key role in inhibiting tumor malignancy. The ferroptosis signalling cascade provides new opportunities for lung cancer therapy. Non‑coding RNA (ncRNA)‑mediated epigenetic modification can influence the vulnerability of cancer cells to ferroptosis in non‑small‑cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Purpose: Timely access to clinical genetics consultations remains a barrier to timely genomic medicine services, which new service delivery models might help address.

Methods: We implemented a genetics electronic consultation (eConsult) service staffed by a primary care physician (PCP) champion, supervised by genetics specialists. Chart reviews from July 2018 to January 2022 examined categories of questions received, e-consultant's recommendations, and outcomes of any conventional genetics referrals.

Intracranial Nanogel Pellets Carrying Temozolomide and Paclitaxel for Adjuvant Brain Cancer Therapy.

Glioblastoma multiforme is the most frequently diagnosed primary malignant brain tumor. Despite multimodal therapy with surgical resection, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, recurrence of the tumor is almost always guaranteed due to the infiltrative nature of the disease. Moreover, the blood brain barrier imparts an additional layer of complexity by impeding the delivery of therapeutic agents to the tumor, hence limiting the efficacy of systemically delivered drugs.

Taxanes, including paclitaxel, docetaxel, and cabazitaxel, are key agents in cancer treatment, often used as front-line chemotherapy drugs in combination with other agent(s) (commonly carboplatin) and as second-line treatments alone. Generally, taxanes are highly effective, but drug resistance unavoidably develops following repeated treatment. Taxanes work by binding to and stabilizing microtubules, leading to mitotic arrest, mitotic catastrophe, and micronucleation.

Maternal antidepressant use has increased during the past 2 decades, with venlafaxine emerging as a common agent during pregnancy. Both venlafaxine and its active metabolite possess prolonged half-lives in adults; however, abrupt discontinuation may lead to withdrawal including irritability, jitteriness, lethargy, restlessness, and insomnia. The drug and its metabolite readily cross the placenta, posing additional considerations during pregnancy.

A Call for Clarity: A Proposed Toolkit to Integrate Foundational Sciences into Pharmacy Curricula.

Am J Pharm Educ

January 2025

Department of Pharmaceutical, Social, and Administrative Sciences, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy, Belmont University, Nashville, TN, USA. Electronic address:

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Pharmacotherapy Didactic Curriculum Toolkit has been used across many schools of pharmacy to guide the depth and breadth of therapeutics coverage, but no counterpart for foundational science coverage in pharmacy education currently exists. Broad topic areas for the foundational sciences are outlined in Appendix 1 of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) standards, but the standards lack specific direction with regard to foundational sciences content needed in the professional pharmacy curriculum. Faculty are therefore challenged to determine the depth and breadth of foundational sciences to meet educational standards within limited curricular space, often resulting in curricular hoarding and overload.

Introduction: AI is big and moving fast into healthcare, creating opportunities and risks. However, current approaches to governance focus on high-level principles rather than tailored recommendations for specific domains like consumer health. This gap risks unintended consequences from generic guidelines misapplied across contexts and from providing answers before agreeing on the questions.

  • Arylamine-acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) is implicated in drug metabolism and may be linked to dyslipidemia and cardiometabolic disorders, highlighting its role in metabolic health.
  • Recent research has indicated that NAT2 expression is influenced by glucose and insulin levels, and it is co-expressed with liver nuclear receptors that impact glucose and lipid balance.
  • The study tested whether various hepatic nuclear receptors (FXR, PXR, LXR, PPARα) can regulate NAT2 expression in human liver cells, finding that none significantly affected NAT2 levels, suggesting the need for further investigation into its transcriptional regulation.
