Nonhealed wounds are one of the most dangerous side effects of type-2 diabetes, which is linked to a high frequency of bacterial infections around the globe that eventually results in amputation of limbs. The present investigation aimed to explore the drug-loaded (naringenin) hydrogel system for chronic wound healing. The hydrogel membranes comprising Na-alginate with F-127 and poly(vinyl alcohol) were developed to treat chronic wounds using the quality-by-design (QbD) approach.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have gained tremendous interest in the search for next-generation therapeutics for the treatment of a range of pathologies, including cancer, especially due to their small size, biomolecular cargo, ability to mediate intercellular communication, high physicochemical stability, low immunogenicity and biocompatibility. The theranostic potential of EVs have been enhanced by adopting several strategies such as genetic or metabolic engineering, parental cell modification or direct functionalization to incorporate therapeutic compounds into these nanoplatforms. The smart nano-sized EVs indeed offer huge opportunities in the field of cancer, and current research is set at overcoming the existing pitfalls.

Agmatine, an endogenous polyamine derived from L-arginine, elicits tremendous multimodal neuromodulant properties. Alterations in agmatinergic signalling are closely linked to the pathogeneses of several brain disorders. Importantly, exogenous agmatine has been shown to act as a potent neuroprotectant in varied pathologies, including brain ageing and associated comorbidities.

Synapses are the cellular substrates of higher-order brain functions, and their dysfunction is an early and primary pathogenic mechanism across several neurological disorders. In particular, Alzheimer's disease (AD) is categorized by prodromal structural and functional synaptic deficits, prior to the advent of classical behavioral and pathological features. Recent research has shown that the development, maintenance, and plasticity of synapses depend on localized protein translation.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine whether hand grip strength (HGS) predicts functional independence in older patients who have undergone hip replacement due to osteoarthritis versus older patients who have undergone hip replacement surgery due to fracture.
Patients And Methods: The study included 239 patients aged 65 and over in the first weeks after total hip replacement during rehabilitation treatment. Multivariate linear regression was used to determine HGS as a predictor of activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) in both groups: patients post hip replacement due to osteoarthritis and patients post hip replacement due to a fracture.
In the present era of global climate change, the scarcity of potable water is increasing both due to natural and anthropogenic causes. Water is the elixir of life, and its usage has risen significantly due to escalating economic activities, widespread urbanization, and industrialization. The increasing water scarcity and rising contamination have compelled, scientists and researchers, to adopt feasible and sustainable wastewater treatment methods in meeting the growing demand for freshwater.

Animal proteins from meat and goods derived from meat have recently been one of the primary concerns in the quest for sustainable food production. According to this perspective, there are exciting opportunities to reformulate more sustainably produced meat products that may also have health benefits by partially replacing meat with nonmeat substances high in protein. Considering these pre-existing conditions, this review critically summarizes recent findings on extenders from a variety of sources, including pulses, plant-based ingredients, plant byproducts, and unconventional sources.
