Background: Metabolic reprogramming, particularly glycolysis, is essential in processes like cancer and immune response. While FGF21's role in hepatocyte glucose metabolism has been linked to glucose transporters and its impact on aerobic glycolysis and cellular growth in HCC remain unclear. In this study, we investigated FGF21-mediated modulation of glucose metabolism in HCC through mTOR and HIF1α axis in HCC.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is second most common form of gynaecological cancer world wide . In this study, we collected and analyzed three ovarian cancer microarray raw datasets from Gene Expression Omnibus, NCBI, and identified a total of 1806 significant DEGs (Differentially expressed genes). The functional analysis of the DEGs showed that the 885 upregulated DEGs were mostly enriched in protein-binding activity, while the downregulated 796 genes were mostly enriched in retinal dehydrogenase activity and GABA receptor binding.

Due to the increasing incidence of cancer and the difficulties in determining the safety profile of existing therapeutic approaches, cancer research has recently become heavily involved in the search for new therapeutic approaches. The therapeutic significance of natural substances, especially flavonoids, against the onset and progression of cancer has been emphasized in traditional food-based medicine. Interestingly, the flavone luteolin possesses biological effects that have been linked to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer effects.

Obesity is associated with excess lipid deposition in nonadipose tissues, leading to increased oxidative stress and insulin resistance. Very low-density lipoprotein receptor (VLDLR), a member of the LDL receptor family, binds and increases the catabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. Although VLDLR is highly expressed in the heart, its role in obesity-associated oxidative stress and insulin resistance is unclear.

In recent years, kaempferol, a natural flavonoid present in various fruits and vegetables, has received significant attention in gastrointestinal cancer research due to its varied therapeutic effects. Kaempferol has been proven to alter several molecular mechanisms and pathways, such as the PI3/Akt, mTOR, and Erk/MAPK pathway involved in cancer progression, showing its inhibitory effects on cell proliferation, survival, angiogenesis, metastasis, and migration. Kaempferol is processed in the liver and small intestine, but limited bioavailability has been a major concern in the clinical implications of kaempferol.
