Given the rate of advancement in predictive psychiatry, there is a threat that it outpaces public and professional willingness for use in clinical care and public health. Prediction tools in psychiatry estimate the risk of future development of mental health conditions. Prediction tools used with young populations have the potential to reduce the worldwide burden of depression.

We introduce two Korean-named yet transcultural feelings, and , to fill gaps in neuroscientific understanding of mammalian bondedness, loss, and aggression. is a visceral sense of connectedness to a person, place, or thing that may arise after proximity, yet does not require intimacy. The brain opioid theory of social attachment (BOTSA) supports the idea that involves increased activity of enkephalins and beta-endorphins.

Background: Identifying risk factors for mortality in patients with bacteremia (SAB) is crucial due to its high fatality. However, data on risk factors for infection-attributable deaths considering competing risk events such as non-infection-attributable deaths remain limited. We performed a competing risk analysis to elucidate risk factors associated with 30-day infection-attributable mortality in a large cohort of patients with SAB.

Transthoracic echocardiography plays a crucial role in clinical diagnosis and is increasingly being used around the world. Comprehensive echocardiographic examinations require accurate measurements and the operators to have excellent technical skills. Despite the availability of several published echocardiographic guidelines, the absence of recommended operational manuals in daily practice has resulted in significant variation in the content of echocardiography reports across different medical institutions.

Background: Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is the standard treatment for acute myocardial infarction (MI). This study aimed to investigate the use of DAPT and de-escalation after discharge in real-world practice among patients with acute MI undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Taiwan.
Methods: Using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database, we included patients who received PCI for acute MI and survived to discharge with DAPT from 2011 to 2021.

This 2025 updated consensus outlines the diagnostic strategy for transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). Given that ATTR-CM is a significant contributor to heart failure, this article emphasizes the importance of making an early and precise diagnosis, particularly as new therapeutic options become available. Highlighting the critical importance of an early and accurate diagnosis, particularly in light of emerging therapeutic modalities, this consensus underscores the central role of Tc-pyrophosphate (PYP) scintigraphy as a non-invasive diagnostic tool.

Aims: This study aims to verify the feasibility and safety of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) after a distal transradial approach (dTRA) with radial artery occlusion (RAO) recanalization.
Methods: Between July 2018 and January 2022, 30 patients underwent PCI following attempted RAO recanalization via dTRA. Among these cases, the target radial arteries could not be recanalized in five patients, necessitating alternative vascular access.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a global impact, with >771 million confirmed cases and 6 million deaths reported by October 2023. Cancer patients, due to their immunosuppressed status, face an increased infection risk and higher COVID-19 complications. The present study aimed to assess clinical outcomes in COVID-19-infected cancer patients, focusing on mortality rates and other aspects, providing valuable insight for better protection and outcomes.

Background: Our goal was to identify, and risk stratify primary care patients with microscopic hematuria (MH), describe the diagnostic evaluations they received, and determine whether the evaluations were consistent with the recommendations of the 2020 AUA/SUFU microscopic hematuria guidelines.
Methods: A retrospective review of patients presenting to primary care clinics with a diagnosis of MH was performed. The patient risk category was determined based on the 2020 AUA/SUFU guidelines.

Modification of polylactic acid (PLA) is a promising strategy for the next generation of bioresorbable vascular stent biomaterials. With this focus, FeMOFs nanoparticles was incorporated in PLA, and then post loading of carbon monoxide (CO) was performed by pressurization. It showed FeMOFs incorporation increased hydrophilicity of the surface and CO loading, and CO release was sustained at least for 3 days.

This study investigates a method for programming immune cells using a biomaterial-based system, providing an alternative to traditional cell manipulation techniques. It addresses the limitations of engineered adoptive T cell therapies, such as T cell exhaustion, by introducing a gelatin-hyaluronic acid (GH-GMA) hydrogel system. We characterized tonsil mesenchymal stem cells (TMSCs), lymphatic endothelial cells (T-LECs), stimulated T-CD8 T cells (STCs), and GH-GMA biomaterials.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists (GLP-1 RAs) have produced substantial weight loss effects in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) cohorts, but these effects have not been thoroughly studied in patients with obesity and without diabetes. This review aimed to analyze direct comparative studies for semaglutide versus other GLP-1 RA (liraglutide and efinopegdutide) in facilitating weight loss and evaluating adverse events in patients with obesity. A systematic search following the guidelines established by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) was performed in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library for direct comparative studies comparing semaglutide with other GLP-1 RA on weight loss in patients with obesity.

Shoulder arthroscopic and arthroplastic surgeries are associated with significant postoperative pain, which can delay recovery and increase opioid consumption. Interscalene blocks (ISBs) are a commonly used method to manage this pain, either as single-shot injections or continuous catheter infusions (CISBs). This review synthesizes findings from studies conducted in the past five years, comparing the efficacy, complications, and outcomes of single-shot ISBs versus CISBs for postoperative pain management in shoulder surgeries.

Background: Low birth weight is a key determinant of child survival, significantly influencing rates of infant and childhood mortality, morbidity, and disability. While some studies have been conducted in our region, there is still a gap in evidence regarding the maternal characteristics associated with low birth weight. Hence, this study aimed to determine the proportion of newborns with low birth weight and determinant factors, particularly focusing on maternal characteristics.

Objective: Measurement of health-related social needs (HRSNs) is complex. We sought to develop and validate computable phenotypes (CPs) using structured electronic health record (EHR) data for food insecurity, housing instability, financial insecurity, transportation barriers, and a composite-type measure of these, using human-defined rule-based and machine learning (ML) classifier approaches.
Materials And Methods: We collected HRSN surveys as the reference standard and obtained EHR data from 1550 patients in 3 health systems from 2 states.
