Objective: To examine the compatibility of gender-affirming care with the principles and practices of psychiatry.
Conclusions: The assumption that there is no pathology involved in the development of gender diversity is a necessary precondition for the unquestioning affirmation of self-reported gender identity. Cases where psychosis is the undeniable cause of gender diversity demonstrate this assumption is categorically false.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) in neonates is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Theophylline (a methylxanthine) has been shown to prevent neonatal AKI but is seldom used due to its unfavorable profile. Caffeine, another methylxanthine, is utilized ubiquitously to treat apnea of prematurity, but there are no randomized trials evaluating its efficacy in preventing neonatal AKI.

Clinical genetics is increasingly recognized as an important area within nephrology care. Clinicians require awareness of genetic kidney disease to recognize clinical phenotypes, consider use of genomics to aid diagnosis, and inform treatment decisions. Understanding the broad spectrum of clinical phenotypes and principles of genomic sequencing is becoming increasingly required in clinical nephrology, with nephrologists requiring education and support to achieve meaningful patient outcomes.

Endometrial cancer is one of the most prevalent tumours in females and holds an 83% survival rate within 5 years of diagnosis. Hypoestrogenism is a major risk factor for the development of endometrial carcinoma (EC) therefore two major types are derived, type 1 being oestrogen-dependent and type 2 being oestrogen independent. Surgery, chemotherapeutic drugs, and radiation therapy are only a few of the treatment options for EC.

In this narrative review, a structured comparison between one-piece and two-piece zirconia dental implants is highlighted. Ceramic dental implants have long ceased to be hype; on the contrary, they can offer a significant addition to the daily dental implant practice. Not only do their favourable aesthetics play a significant role, but their ability to work completely metal-free is of added value, particularly for patients with a proven allergy for Grade 5 titanium.

This paper demonstrates how person-focused, prevention-based, risk/needs-related, team-delivered, minimum intervention oral care (MIOC) principles and approaches can be integrated into the dental profession for the delivery of environmentally sustainable, optimal care to high-needs and high caries-risk/susceptibility patients. It highlights the potential for NHS remuneration for prevention-based, phased, personalised care pathways/plans (PCPs) within a reformed NHS dental contract system. It emphasises the importance of comprehensive and longitudinal patient risk/susceptibility assessments, prevention and stabilisation of the oral environment before considering more complex, definitive restorative work.

HPs' perceived motivation concerning the importance, value, and barriers attributed to research during different career stages were examined.

Background: This analysis addresses the uncertainty surrounding the efficacy of glue mesh fixation (GMF) compared with tack mesh fixation (TMF) in laparoscopic herniorrhaphy. Our meta-analysis incorporates recently conducted randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to enhance the reference for assessing the efficacy and safety of GMF.
Methods: PubMed Central, Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Cochrane Library were extensively reviewed for articles in the English language performed from inception to May 2023 using the keywords "Glue mesh repair," "Tack mesh repair," "Inguinal Hernia," "Herniorrhaphy," "Laparoscopic," "Mesh Fixation," and "Randomized controlled trials.

Background: It is hypothesized that whole salivary prostaglandin E (PgE) levels are higher in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus (type-2 DM) than non-diabetic individuals with periodontal inflammation; and that whole salivary expression of PgE is correlated with hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) levels. The aim of the present study was to compare whole salivary PgE levels among patients with type-2 DM and non-diabetic individuals with periodontal inflammation.
Methods: Sociodemographic data, duration since the diagnosis and management of type-2 DM, most recent hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c level), and any familial history of DM was retrieved from patient's healthcare records.
