Loss-to-follow-up (LTFU) in the era of test-and-treat remains a universal challenge, especially in rural areas. To mitigate LTFU, the HIV program in Neno District, Malawi, utilizes a preventive default tracking strategy named Tracking for Retention and Client Enrollment (TRACE). We utilized a mixed-methods descriptive study of the TRACE program on patient's re-engagement and retention in care (RiC).

Purpose: We investigated healing pattern of an incisional wound in corneal stroma of lumican-null (KO) mice.

Methods: C57BL/6 mice (wild-type, WT) and lumican-null (knockout, KO) mice were used. A linear full-thickness incision was produced in one cornea of each mouse.

Previous research has indicated that ultrafine particles (UFPs, particles less than 100 nm) emitted from desktop three-dimensional (3D) printers exhibit cytotoxicity. However, only a limited number of particles from different filaments and their combinations have been tested for cytotoxicity. This study quantified the emissions of UFPs from a commercially available filament extrusion desktop 3D printer using three different filaments, including acrylonitrile butadiene Styrene (ABS), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG).

Introduction: A 56-hole porous tip radiofrequency catheter was developed to provide more uniform cooling with less fluid delivery than a prior 6-hole irrigated design. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of contact force (CF) ablation with the porous tip on complications (congestive heart failure [CHF] and non-CHF related), healthcare resource utilization, and procedural efficiency in patients undergoing de novo paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) ablations in a real-world setting.

Methods: Consecutive de novo PAF ablations were performed between February 2014 and March 2019 by six operators at a single US academic center.

We aimed to characterize rates and types of medication errors and harm to outpatient children with leukemia and lymphoma over 7 months of treatment.

Methods: We recruited children taking medications at home for leukemia or lymphoma from three pediatric cancer centers.

Background: There are continued concerns about holding large group gatherings with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) made the decision to cancel the Oral Clinical Examination (OCE) in 2020 with a goal to host the exam in 2021. This cancellation postponed the board certification of over 400 pediatric dentists.

Integrin regulation by tissue factor promotes cancer stemness and metastatic dissemination in breast cancer.

Tissue Factor (TF) is the initiator of blood coagulation but also functions as a signal transduction receptor. TF expression in breast cancer is associated with higher tumor grade, metastasis and poor survival. The role of TF signaling on the early phases of metastasis has never been addressed.

Safety of subcutaneous immunotherapy in patients with severe asthma.

Background: Severe asthma (SA) has been identified as a risk factor for severe systemic reactions (SR) to allergen subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT). However, the incidence and characterization of SRs in SA in comparison to less severe or no asthma is not known.

Objective: The objective of this study was to characterize the incidence of SRs in patients with SA receiving SCIT in comparison to patients with no asthma or less SA.

Spinster 2 (Spns2) is a transporter that pumps sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), a bioactive lipid mediator synthesized in the cytoplasm, out of cells into the inter cellular space. S1P is a signal that modulates cellular behavior during embryonic development, inflammation and tissue repair, etc. A Spns2-null (KO) mouse is born with failure of eyelid closure (eyelid-open-at birth; EOB) and develop corneal fibrosis in adulthood.

Acyloxyacyl hydrolase regulates microglia-mediated pelvic pain.

Chronic pelvic pain conditions such as interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) remain clinical and mechanistic enigmas. Microglia are resident immune cells of the central nervous system (CNS) that respond to changes in the gut microbiome, and studies have linked microglial activation to acute and chronic pain in a variety of models, including pelvic pain. We have previously reported that mice deficient for the lipase acyloxyacyl hydrolase (AOAH) develop pelvic allodynia and exhibit symptoms, comorbidities, and gut dysbiosis mimicking IC/BPS.

Expanding a Regional Sickle Cell Disease Project ECHO to Rapidly Disseminate COVID-19 Education.

Purpose: Healthcare providers faced numerous knowledge gaps and challenges with adapting practice behaviors in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, an established virtual sickle cell disease (SCD) telementoring program rapidly expanded from monthly evidence-based didactic sessions focused on medical and psychosocial complications of sickle cell disease, to additional supplemental COVID-19 sessions with emerging pandemic topics and forums for shared experiences to address this timely educational need among multidisciplinary healthcare providers.

Methods: In March 2020, the COVID-19 and Sickle Cell Disease Project ECHO telementoring series was launched with a rapidly evolving curriculum of contemporary topics and case presentations.

Background And Objectives: Children with neurologic impairment (NI) are a growing subset of children who frequently use health care. We examined health care use and spending trends across services for children with NI during their first 5 years of life.

Methods: This was a retrospective study of 13 947 children with NI in the multistate IBM Medicaid MarketScan Database (2009-2017).

A maturity grid assessment tool for learning networks.

Background: The vision of learning healthcare systems (LHSs) is attractive as a more effective model for health care services, but achieving the vision is complex. There is limited literature describing the processes needed to construct such multicomponent systems or to assess development.

Methods: We used the concept of a capability maturity matrix to describe the maturation of necessary infrastructure and processes to create learning networks (LNs), multisite collaborative LHSs that use an actor-oriented network organizational architecture.

Background: Emergency personnel operate in environments that put them at higher risk of injury to the musculoskeletal system. These injuries result in lost workdays, medical costs, and decreased productivity, all which impact emergency response systems.

Objective: This study serves to assess the causes, costs, and disability of common work-related musculoskeletal injuries within the police, emergency medical service (EMS) workers, and firefighters of Ohio based on data from the OBWC (Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation).

A phase I/II study of ribociclib following radiation therapy in children with newly diagnosed diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG).

Purpose: Cyclin-dependent kinase-retinoblastoma (CDK-RB) pathway is dysregulated in some diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG). We evaluated safety, feasibility, and early efficacy of the CDK4/6-inhibitor ribociclib, administered following radiotherapy in newly-diagnosed DIPG patients.

Methods: Following radiotherapy, eligible patients received ribociclib in 28-day cycles (350 mg/m; 21 days on/7 days off).

Regulation of a long noncoding RNA MALAT1 by aryl hydrocarbon receptor in pancreatic cancer cells and tissues.

Environmental toxicants such as dioxins and polycyclic aromatic carbons are risk factors for pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. These toxicants activate aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR), a ligand-activated transcription factor, of which activation regulates many downstream biological events, including xenobiotic metabolism, inflammation, and cancer cell growth and transformation. Here, we identified that environmental toxicant-activated AHR increased expression of metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) in pancreatic cancer cells and pancreatic tissues.

Randomized phase 2 trial and open-label extension of domagrozumab in Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

We report results from a phase 2, randomized, double-blind, 2-period trial (48 weeks each) of domagrozumab and its open-label extension in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Of 120 ambulatory boys (aged 6 to <16 years) with DMD, 80 were treated with multiple ascending doses (5, 20, and 40 mg/kg) of domagrozumab and 40 treated with placebo. The primary endpoints were safety and mean change in 4-stair climb (4SC) time at week 49.
