Successful Use of Virtual Microscopy in the Assessment of Practical Histology during Pandemic COVID-19: A Descriptive Study.

Background: Practical knowledge and skills of microscopy has classically been delivered for medical students using conventional microscopes (CMs). Using virtual microscopy (VM) in teaching practical histology was established during distance learning for Taif medical students during COVID 19 pandemic period. However, the suitable assessment methods for student performance during distance learning are still debatable.

Endovascular management of contralateral gate maldeployment during EVAR: Case report of interventional technique.

Introduction: Endovascular repair of infra renal aortic aneurysm is becoming the preferable method of intervention compared to open surgery due to the lower early morbidity rates. One of the complications during the procedure is contra-lateral gate (CLG) maldeployment. Learning the endovascular salvage options is necessary to avoid the morbidities of open surgical conversion.

Recent advancements in bariatric/metabolic surgery.

Obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are currently two pan-endemic health problems worldwide and are associated with considerable increase in morbidity and mortality. Both diseases are closely related and very difficult to control by current medical treatment, including diet, drug therapy and behavioral modification. Bariatric surgery has proven successful in treating not just obesity but also in significantly decreasing overall obesity-associated morbidities as well as improving quality of life in severely obese patients (body mass index [BMI] >35 kg/m).

Foreign body mimicking malignancy in acquired dacryocystocele.

A featured malignant-like granulation tissue can be the only preoperative clinical clue of a concealed foreign body in the nasal cavity. Thus, endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) should be completed with intraoperative nasal exploration to reveal non-apparent foreign bodies that might be the underlying etiology of chronic dacryocystocele.
