Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD) complicated with anxiety or depression is increasing year by year. However, many anti-anxiety drugs or antidepressants have a certain degree of adverse reactions and are not easily accepted by patients. Xinkeshu (XKS), as a proprietary Chinese patent medicine with "psycho-cardiology" effect, is one of the commonly used drugs in the treatment of CHD complicated with anxiety or depression in China.

Background And Purpose: Colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R)-related leukoencephalopathy is an adult-onset leukoencephalopathy caused by mutations in CSF1R. The present study aimed to explore the broader genetic spectrum of CSF1R-related leukoencephalopathy in association with clinical and imaging features.
Methods: Mutational analysis of CSF1R was performed for 100 consecutive patients with adult-onset leukoencephalopathy.

Oral mucosal ulcer is the most prevalent oral mucosal lesion, affecting the quality of life. Due to the moist and highly dynamic oral lining, the existing oral mucoadhesives are unable to serially address the challenges of residency, hemorrhage, bacterial infection and inflammatory reaction. Herein, a dual-light defined oral mucoadhesive (ZPTA-G/HMA) was proposed, with a methacrylate gelatin-methacrylate hyaluronic acid (GelMA-HAMA, G/HMA) double network hydrogel as a matrix, tannic acid (TA) as a high content anchor moiety provider for the moist oral mucosa, and polydopamine modified zinc oxide (ZnO@PDA, ZP) as a photocatalytic antibacterial substance.

Objective: To determine the effects of acupuncture combined with pricking and cupping therapy on the balance of Th1/Th2 cytokines in patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU).
Methods: The medical records of 75 patients with CSU treated in The First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 10, 2021 to January 10, 2022 were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Among them, 35 patients treated with traditional therapy were assigned to a control group, and 40 patients treated with acupuncture combined with pricking and cupping therapy to an observation group.

A method for identification and quantification of 2-methoxyqualone, an newly emerging quinazolinone derivative recreational drug, in human scalp hair was established using gas chromatography (GC)-tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). In this report, authentic cases are presented, in which the suspects were seized by police security bureau; the police in China requested our laboratory to identify and quantify the involved drug(s) of abuse in the hair samples of the suspects. After washing and cryo-grinding the authentic hair samples, the target compound was extracted with methanol, and the solvent layer was evaporated to dryness.

Sleep disturbances are the most prevalent non-motor symptoms in the preclinical stage of Parkinson's disease (PD). Adenosine, glial-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), and associated neurotransmitters are crucial in the control of sleep arousal. This study aimed to detect the serum levels of adenosine, GDNF, and associated neurotransmitters and explored their correlations with PD with sleep disorders.

More than 300 million people worldwide suffer from depression, which is a significant contributor to the global burden of disease. This study investigated the factors influencing psychological resilience and cognitive fusion in patients with depression and the relationships of psychological resilience and cognitive fusion with depression. This study enrolled 172 participants (65.

Immunohistochemical analysis of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks is routinely used to identify virus-infected cells. However, detecting virus particles in FFPE sections using light microscopy is difficult because of the light diffraction resolution limitations of an optical microscope. In this study, light microscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy were performed to observe 3-dimensional virus particles in FFPE sections in a nondestructive manner using NanoSuit or osmium conductive treatment methods.

Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a highly prevalent mental disease. Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), although numerous studies have revealed the alterations in structure and function of grey matter (GM), few studies focused on the synchronization of white matter (WM) structure and function in MDD. The aim of this study was to investigate whether functional and structural abnormalities of WM play an essential role in the neurobiological mechanisms of MDD.

Objective: Anxious depression is associated with greater chronicity, higher severity of symptoms, more severe functional impairment, and poor response to drug treatment. However, evidence for first-choice antidepressants in patients with anxious depression is limited. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of escitalopram, desvenlafaxine, and vortioxetine in the acute treatment of anxious depression.

Purpose: The information on analytical methods for 4-quinazolinone recreational drugs, such as methaqualone, etaqualone and 2-methoxyqualone, is almost scant. In this study, product ion spectra of gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) with different collision energies were presented for these drugs. Because 2-methoxyqualone is a new recreational drug discovered in dubious tablets very recently, much more detailed data obtained by different types of mass spectrometry instruments, and quantification data of 2-methoxyqualone in the tablet together with its validation were demonstrated.

Background: Mitigating rating inconsistency can improve measurement fidelity and detection of treatment response.
Methods: The International Society for CNS Clinical Trials and Methodology convened an expert Working Group that developed consistency checks for ratings of the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A) and Clinical Global Impression of Severity of anxiety (CGIS) that are widely used in studies of mood and anxiety disorders. Flags were applied to 40,349 HAM-A administrations from 15 clinical trials and to Monte Carlo-simulated data as a proxy for applying flags under conditions of inconsistency.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are a collective term for nanoscale or microscale vesicles secreted by cells that play important biological roles. Mesenchymal stem cells are a class of cells with the potential for self-healing and multidirectional differentiation. In recent years, numerous studies have shown that EVs, especially those secreted by mesenchymal stem cells, can promote the repair and regeneration of various tissues and, thus, have significant potential in regenerative medicine.

Peri-menopausal syndrome (PMPS) has a high incidence rate and seriously affects the physical and mental health of women. Honghua Xiaoyao Pill (HHXYP) is a Chinese patent medicine, which has been reported to be used to treat PMPS. However, there is still a lack of randomized clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of HHXYP on life quality, mood and vasomotor symptoms for PMPS women.
