Computational models have great potential to accelerate bioscience, bioengineering, and medicine. However, it remains challenging to reproduce and reuse simulations, in part, because the numerous formats and methods for simulating various subsystems and scales remain siloed by different software tools. For example, each tool must be executed through a distinct interface.

Salts and cocrystals are the two important solid forms when a carboxylic acid crystallizes with an aminopyrimidine base such that the extent of proton transfer distinguishes between them. The Δp value (p (base) - p (acid)) predicts whether the proton transfer will occur or not. However, the Δp range, 0 < Δp < 3, is elusive where the formation of cocrystal or salt cannot be predicted.

Herein, we report the synthesis of Ce-Al (1 : 1, 1 : 3, 1 : 6, and 1 : 9) binary oxide nanoparticles by a simple co-precipitation method at room temperature to be applied for defluoridation of an aqueous solution. The characterization of the synthesized nanomaterial was performed by XRD (X-ray diffraction), FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectroscopy, TGA/DTA (thermogravimetric analysis/differential thermal analysis), BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) surface analysis, and SEM (scanning electron microscopy). Ce-Al binary oxides in 1 : 6 molar concentration were found to have the highest surface area of 110.

Ultraviolet/ozone (UV/O) treatment has been reported to be an effective method to modify properties such as wettability, adhesion or adsorption of plastic surfaces. The change in the surface is measured by contact angle analysis, which employs liquids and their surface tensions (ST) to estimate the surface energy (SE). We found two different practices in the scientific community: (1) the majority of researchers adopted the ST value of liquids from the literature, while (2) other researchers conducted real-time measurements in the lab under ambient conditions prior to SE estimation.

Synthesis of cellulose-g-poly(acrylic acid) with high water absorbency using pineapple-leaf extracted cellulose fibers.

Carbohydr Polym

July 2022

Department of Chemical Engineering, College of Engineering Technology, Can Tho University, Campus II, 3/2 street, Xuan Khanh, Ninh Kieu, Can Tho, Viet Nam. Electronic address:

This study synthesized cellulose-g-poly(acrylic acid) with high water absorbency using the cellulose extracted from pineapple leaves. The synthesis experiment used a novel combination of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) and azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the cross-linker and the initiator, respectively. Experimental results showed that the concentrations of AIBN and EGDMA had significant effects on the structure and the water absorbency of the cross-linked materials.

March 2022

Henan Province Engineering Research Center for Biomass Value-Added Products, School of Forestry, Henan Agricultural University, Zhengzhou 450002, China.

Being the second-largest country in the production of palm oil, Malaysia has a massive amount of palm kernel expeller (PKE) leftover. For that purpose, black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) are thus employed in this study to valorize the PKE waste. More specifically, this work elucidated the effects of the pre-fermentation of PKE via different amounts of to enhance PKE palatability for the feeding of BSFL.

The normal functioning of the larynx or voicebox gives humans the ability to converse with others effortlessly. However, if the larynx is permanently removed due to injury or illness, speech cannot be produced. The electrolarynx, a noninvasive device used to produce speech for such persons, has a motor-induced hum which hinders telephone-based communication among electrolaryngeal speakers.

Diesel engines are most widely used as power plant for many applications, like automotive, agricultural purposes, portable machines and remote location power generation, because of their higher torque, power output, energy content per unit mass and cost of fuel. Because of the higher compression ratios, the diesel engines are able to produce greater cylinder pressures resulting in higher temperatures and thermal efficiency. On other hand, the diesel engines produce CO, NO, Soot and sulphur emissions which are harmful and these pollute the environment leading to acid rain, global warming and variety of human diseases.

(Bertoni) leaves consist of dietetically important diterpene steviol glycosides (SGs): stevioside (ST) and rebaudioside-A (Reb-A). ST and Reb-A are key sweetening compounds exhibiting a sweetening potential of 100 to 300 times more intense than that of table sucrose. Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) of SGs was optimized by effective process optimization techniques, such as response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural network (ANN) modeling coupled with genetic algorithm (GA) as a function of ethanol concentration (: 0-100%), sonication time (: 10-54 min), and leaf-solvent ratio (: 0.

While the technologies of ribonucleic acid-sequence (RNA-seq) and transcript assembly analysis have continued to improve, a novel topology of RNA transcript was uncovered in the last decade and is called circular RNA (circRNA). Recently, researchers have revealed that they compete with messenger RNA (mRNA) and long noncoding for combining with microRNA in gene regulation. Therefore, circRNA was assumed to be associated with complex disease and discovering the relationship between them would contribute to medical research.
