Reader, Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, ITS - Centre for Dental Studies and Research, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India .

Introduction: Dental caries is one of the most common infectious diseases affecting the oral cavity. Among the oral bacteria, mutans streptococci have been implicated as major cariogenic bacteria as they can produce high levels of dental caries causing substances such as lactic acid and extracellular polysaccharides.

Aim: The aim of the study was to detect the presence of and in dental plaque by using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method, quantification of these micro-organisms using Modified Sucrose-Bacitracin (SB-20M) agar medium and to correlate their presence in Caries Active (CA) and Caries Free (CF) pre-school children.

Purpose: To assess validity and reliability of resonance frequency analysis (RFA) as an indicator of implant micromotion (MM) in implants of different lengths and thread designs.

Materials And Methods: Two types of implants were studied-An implant with an asymmetrical, self-tapping thread design, varying thread pitch and geometry (Myriad Plus; Equinox Medical Technology, Amersfoort, The Netherlands) and a tapered implant with a proprietary buttress thread design (Tapered Internal; BioHorizon). MM was assessed for 2 implant lengths (Myriad-Plus 3.

Cemento-ossifying fibroma (COF) is a fibro-osseous lesion or non-odontogenic tumour that affects craniofacial bones. These lesions are included in the spectrum of fibro-osseous lesions arising from periodontal ligament cells, which can deposit combination of cementum and bone surrounded by fibrous tissue. It clinically, macroscopically and radiologically resembles complex composite odontome and can be differentiated only on the basis of histopathology.

Introduction: Although many different types of Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) membranes (resorbable/non-resorbable, including titanium mesh) have been used in the field of Periodontics till now, but this is the first and only clinical study testing the effectiveness of an ultra thin pure Titanium Membrane (Ultra Ti) as a GTR membrane in infra-bony periodontal defects.

Aim: To compare the efficacy of GTR in intra-bony defects with newly introduced non-resorbable barrier membrane, made of titanium called "Ultra-Ti GTR Membrane" versus open flap debridement.

Materials And Methods: A prospective, randomized, controlled, clinical split mouth study was designed wherein each patient received both the control and test treatment.

Introduction: The caries process has been thought to be irreversible, resulting in the permanent loss of tooth substance and eventually the development of a cavity. Recent approaches focused on application of remineralizing agents to incipient carious lesions, aim at controlling demineralization and promoting remineralization. Remineralizing agents create a supersaturated environment around the lesion; thus, preventing mineral loss and forces calcium and phosphate ions in the vacant areas.

Background: Cancer therapy couples with it a plethora of complications of short and long term effects which can be so distressing that patient may tolerate only lower less-effective doses of therapy, may postpone treatments or will discontinue treatment entirely. Fractionated dose of radiotherapy coupled with therapy induce local or systemic infections due to high cellular turnover rates of the oral mucosa, diverse and complex microflora and trauma to oral tissues. Several mucosal abnormalities often results in epithelial and glandular destruction and inflammation, which can be so devastating that it may cause atypical changes on the area exposed to radiation.
