Cerebral ischemic stroke, neuronal death, and inflammation bring difficulties in neuroprotection and rehabilitation. In this study, we developed and designed the ability of natural lactoferrin-polyethylene glycol-polyphenylalanine-baicalein nanomicelles (LF-PEG-PPhe-Bai) to target and reduce these pathological processes, such as neurological damage and cognitive impairment in the stages of poststroke. Nanomicelles made from biocompatible materials have improved bioavailability and targeted distribution to afflicted brain areas.

The three SDEs of CLas were expressed in citrus leaves by AuNPs-PEI mediated transient expression system, and promoted the proliferation of CLas and inhibited citrus immunity. Huanglongbing (HLB) is the most severe bacterial disease of citrus caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas). CLas suppress host immune responses and promote infection by sec-dependent effectors (SDEs), thus insight into HLB pathogenesis is urgently needed to develop effective management strategies.

Yes-associated protein (YAP), a focal point of current biological research, is involved in regulating various life processes. In this report, live-cell fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) imaging was employed to unravel the YAP complexes in MCF-7 cells. Fluorescence imaging of living cells co-expressing CFP (cyan fluorescent protein)-YAP and YFP (yellow fluorescent protein)-LATS1 (large tumor suppressor 1) plasmids revealed that YAP promoted LATS1 oligomerization around mitochondria.

Compared to fluorescence, second harmonic generation (SHG) has recently emerged as an excellent signal for imaging probes due to its unmatched advantages in terms of no photobleaching, no phototoxicity, no signal saturation, as well as the superior imaging accuracy with excellent avoidance of background noise. Existing SHG probes are constructed from heavy metals and are cellular exogenous, presenting with high cytotoxicity, difficult cellular uptake, and the limitation of non-heritability. We, therefore, initially propose an innovative gene-encoded bioprotein SHG probe derived from Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcMNPV) polyhedrin.

We integrate monolayer TMDCs into silicon-on-insulation (SOI) waveguides and dielectric-loaded surface plasmon polariton (DLSPP) waveguides to enhance nonlinear parameters (γ) of silicon-based waveguides. By optimizing the waveguide geometry, we have achieved significantly improved γ. In MoSe-on-SOI and MoSe-in-DLSPP waveguide with optimized geometry, the maximum γ at the excitonic resonant peak (λ) is 5001.

Rapid and sensitive detection of phosphate is of great significance for ensuring water safety and preventing eutrophication. In this study, we prepared Au@PATP@Ag NRs core-shell structures using 4-aminothiophenol (PATP) as an internal standard signal molecule to enhance the stability of the SERS signal. Based on the protective effect of ZIF-8 on the internal Au@PATP@Ag NRs and the phosphate-induced decomposition of ZIF-8, a phosphate SERS sensor (Au@PATP@Ag@ZIF-8) with high sensitivity, selectivity and stability was designed.

The autophagy pathway regulates the degradation of misfolded proteins caused by heat stress (HS) in the cytoplasm, thereby maintaining cellular homeostasis. Although previous studies have established that autophagy (ATG) genes are transcriptionally upregulated in response to HS, the precise regulation of ATG proteins at the subcellular level remains poorly understood. In this study, we provide compelling evidence for the translocation of key autophagy components, including the ATG1/ATG13 kinase complex (ATG1a, ATG13a), PI3K complex (ATG6, VPS34), and ATG8-PE system (ATG5), to HS-induced stress granules (SGs) in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Disulfiram (DSF) and copper (Cu) in combination exhibit powerful anti-cancer effect on a variety of cancer cell lines. Here, we found that DSF/Cu facilitated the accumulation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), and induced ROS-dependent apoptosis accompanied by chromatin condensation and phosphatidylserine externalization in MCF-7 cells. DSF/Cu caused caspase-independent apoptosis by promoting the AIF translocation from mitochondria to nucleus.

In eukaryotic cells, autophagosomes are double-membrane vesicles that are highly mobile and traffic along cytoskeletal tracks. While core autophagy-related proteins (ATGs) and other regulators involved in autophagosome biogenesis in plants have been extensively studied, the specific components regulating plant autophagosome motility remain elusive. In this study, using TurboID-based proximity labelling, we identify the retromer subcomplex comprising sorting nexin 1 (SNX1), SNX2a, and SNX2b as interacting partners of ATG8.

Ovarian cancer remains a significant challenge due to the lack of effective treatment and the resistance to conventional therapies. Ferroptosis, a form of regulated cell death characterized by iron-depend and lipid peroxidation, has emerged as a potential therapeutic target in cancer. Ovarian cancer has been reported to exert an "iron addiction" phenotype which makes it is susceptible to ferroptosis inducers.

Spiro-OMeTAD hole transport materials typically exhibit an amorphous state in perovskite solar cells. However, the lack of structural ordering leads to weak intermolecular interaction, inferior carrier transfer, and poor stability in devices. Herein, we developed a π-conjugation-induced short-range ordering strategy to modulate the stacking order of spiro-OMeTAD during film formation.

Obtaining reliable and informative DNA data from soil samples is challenging due to the presence of interfering substances and typically low DNA yields. In this work, we prepared poly(ethylene glycol)-modified magnetic particles (PEG@FeO) for DNA purification. The particles leverage the facilitative effect of calcium ions (Ca), which act as bridges between DNA and PEG@FeO by coordinating with the phosphate groups of DNA and the hydroxyl groups on the particles.

Species-specific enzymes provide a substantial boost to the precision and selectivity of identifying dairy products contaminated with foodborne pathogens, due to their specificity for target organisms. In this study, we developed cobalt oxyhydroxide nanosheets (CoOOH NSs) for a dual-mode biosensor capable of detecting β-galactosidase (β-Gal)-positive bacteria in milk and milk powder. The sensor exploits the oxidase-mimicking activity of CoOOH NSs, where β-Gal converts the substrate β-D-galactopyranoside to p-aminophenol, reducing CoOOH NSs to Co and inhibiting the formation of the blue product from 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylben-zidine.
