Traditional multimodal contrastive learning brings text and its corresponding image closer together as a positive pair, where the text typically consists of fixed sentence structures or specific descriptive statements, and the image features are generally global features (with some fine-grained work using local features). Similar to unimodal self-supervised contrastive learning, this approach can be seen as enforcing a strict identity constraint in a multimodal context. However, due to the inherent complexity of remote sensing images, which cannot be easily described in a single sentence, and the fact that remote sensing images contain rich ancillary information beyond just object features, this strict identity constraint may be insufficient.

November 2024

Branch of Biology, Department of Science, College of Basic Education, Wasit University, Wasit, Iraq. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common primary glomerulonephritis worldwide, and recent studies suggest it may be linked to autoimmune responses, although this connection is not fully understood.
  • The study aimed to investigate the relationship between autoimmune responses and specific immune factors in the progression of Berger's disease by comparing 75 patients with the disease to 75 healthy controls.
  • Results showed that patients had significantly higher levels of various autoantibodies and specific immune proteins (IgA and IgG), along with increased schistocytes and lower RBC counts, indicating a notable autoimmune component in the disease.

A simple two step synthetic method for di-doped crystalline mesoporous tin dioxide powder containing antimony and fluoride at ambient pressure and temperature has been developed. This approach produced materials with high surface areas and improved electrical and optoelectrical conductance. The two dopant elements; antimony and fluoride were introduced to tin dioxide by two approaches.

Electrochemical Performance of Deposited LiPON Film/Lithium Electrode in Lithium-Sulfur Batteries.

Molecules

September 2024

Beijing Key Laboratory of Electrochemical Process and Technology for Materials, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Beijing 100029, China.

This paper presents a composed lithium phosphate (LiPON) solid electrolyte interface (SEI) film which was coated on a lithium electrode via an electrodeposit method in a lithium-sulfur battery, and the structure of the product was characterized through infrared spectrum (IR) analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), environment scanning electron microscope (ESEM), etc. Meanwhile, the electrochemical impedance spectrum and the interface stability of the lithium electrode with the LiPON film was analyzed, while the coulomb efficiency and the cycle life of the lithium electrode with the LiPON film in the lithium-sulfur battery were also studied. It was found that this kind of film can effectively inhibit the charge from transferring at the interface between the electrode and the solution, which can produce a more stable interface impedance on the electrode, thereby improving the interface contact with the electrolyte, and effectively improve the discharge performance, cycle life, and the coulomb efficiency of the lithium-sulfur battery.

Objectives: Mental chronometry is the scientific study of cognitive processing speed measured by reaction time (RT), which is the elapsed time between the onset of a stimulus and an individual's response. This study aims at measuring the RT among young children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and comparing it with normal (typically developing) children.

Methods: 60 ASD children were selected from different ASD centers, and 60 normal children were selected from different kindergartens for participation in this study.

Department of General Science, College of Basic Education, Salahaddin University-Erbil, (44001), Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. Electronic address:

In this groundbreaking study, artificial neural networks (ANNs) are employed to predict the production cross-sections of crucial radioisotopes, namely O, Bi, Th, and Zn, via the (p,n) reaction. We employed a comparative approach to validate the ANN model's predictions by comparing them to outputs generated by established nuclear reaction codes (TALYS 1.9, EMPIRE-3.

Narrative reconstruction in deaf and hearing children: A comparative study in the context of Arabic diglossia.

J Commun Disord

September 2024

Department of Special Education, College of Basic Education, The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Ardiya, Kuwait.

This study explores the narrative skills of deaf and hearing children within the context of Arabic diglossia, a linguistic environment characterised by significant differences between spoken dialects and formal written language. Using Stein and Glenn's (1979) and Bruner's (1991) frameworks, the research analyses the narrative constructions of 13 hearing and 13 deaf children in Kuwait. The findings reveal that hearing children, benefiting from consistent exposure to spoken and formal Arabic, produced more coherent and detailed narratives compared to deaf children.

Article Synopsis
  • Jazan Industrial Economic City (JIEC) is a hub for various heavy industries in Saudi Arabia, including petroleum and water desalination, which produce significant amounts of industrial wastewater containing toxic substances.
  • The study focuses on isolating 32 fungal strains from this wastewater that can tolerate multiple heavy metals and have efficient bioremediation capabilities for pollutants like crude oil and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
  • Among these fungi, isolate JAZ-20 exhibited outstanding bioremoval efficiency, achieving up to 100% removal of several harmful pollutants and demonstrating low levels of antibiotic resistance within the mycobiome.

An updated and annotated checklist of the spiders of Iraq, currently comprising 104 species in 75 genera and 29 families is presented, including six endemic and four subendemic species. Twenty-three records are considered misidentifications and therefore omitted from the checklist. Where possible, the misidentified records are attributed to other species based on their distribution and morphology; as a result of this, three species are recorded in Iraq for the first time: Dictis striatipes L.

This study investigates the impact of gamma radiation on the electrical properties of InAs/InGaAs quantum dot-based laser structures grown on both GaAs (Sample A) and Si (Sample B) substrates using molecular beam epitaxy. The research explores the electrical characteristics of the lasers before and after being exposed to gamma radiation employing current-voltage (-), capacitance-voltage (-), deep level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) and Laplace DLTS techniques. The results show that the electrical properties of the lasers change due to gamma radiation exposure, and the extent of the change depends on the substrate used for growth.
