Therefore, there is a need to evaluate the current state of digital cytology. This study aimed to determine the current landscape of digital cytology via a survey conducted as part of the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC) Digital Cytology White Paper Task Force.

Occupational tasks associated with shoulder pain and upper extremity disability: a cross-sectional study in the Johnston County Osteoarthritis Project.

Background: Shoulder pain is a leading cause of disability. Occupations requiring high upper extremity demands may put workers at greater risk of shoulder injury and resulting pain. We examined associations of occupation with shoulder pain and upper extremity disability in the Johnston County Osteoarthritis Project.

Background: Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) have been associated with systemic anti-inflammatory responses. Dietary intake of omega-3 PUFAs eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) has also been associated with lower chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) morbidity using self-report food frequency questionnaires.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between measured PUFA intake using plasma EPA+DHA levels and COPD morbidity.

'Working me to life': longitudinal perceptions from adults with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction enrolled in an exercise training clinical trial.

Aims: Adults with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) responded more favourably to an exercise intervention compared with those with reduced ejection fraction. This study explores factors that contributed to this response, focusing on the qualitative perceptions of adults with HFpEF enrolled in an exercise intervention.

Methods And Results: This qualitative descriptive study is a secondary analysis of longitudinal interviews collected at 3, 6, 12, and 18 months from participants with HFpEF enrolled in a randomized controlled trial testing an intervention to promote adherence to exercise.

Budget impact of the Walk With Ease program for knee osteoarthritis.

Objective: Walk With Ease (WWE) is an effective low-cost walking program. We estimated the budget impact of implementing WWE in persons with knee osteoarthritis (OA) as a measure of affordability that can inform payers' funding decisions.

Methods: We estimated changes in two-year healthcare costs with and without WWE.

Virtual reality training versus conventional rehabilitation for chronic neck pain: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: To identify, critically appraise, and quantitatively synthesize current randomized controlled trials to compare the effects of virtual reality and dose-matched conventional exercises in patients with chronic neck pain.

Literature Search: PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Scopus were searched for studies published prior to April 15, 2023. The search strategies combined controlled vocabularies and title/abstract keywords on search themes of virtual reality and neck pain.

Objective: The purpose of this investigation was to explore if a physical therapy program involving strength, flexibility, balance, and walking can improve the uncharacteristic gait variability and overall mobility of persons living with multiple sclerosis (pwMS).

Design: Pre-post design to evaluate the mobility improvements after undergoing 6 weeks of a gait and balance physical therapy intervention.

Setting: The initial 2 weeks were conducted at a medical center under close supervision of a physical therapist.

A narrative inquiry into the communication experiences of mothers caring for children with cancer in Jordan.

Background: This study aims to investigate the parenting experiences of mothers who care for children with cancer in Jordan and specifically focuses on the communication experiences of mothers who care for children with cancer.

Methodology: A qualitative research design employing a narrative inquiry methodology was adopted; it employed the implementation of twenty semi-structured interviews with the mothers of children with cancer recruited from one pediatric hospital located in Amman, Jordan.

Findings: The findings of this study reveal that the majority of mothers attempted to conceal or delay any discussion regarding the diagnosis with their child, particularly during the immediate post-diagnosis period.

Rapid Review of Therapy Protocols for Public Health Emergencies.

How research during a public health emergency is conducted is recognized as essential to the public health response to that emergency. Such research needs to undergo substantive and meaningful ethical review in a timely manner. Rapid ethical review may be accomplished through a number of mechanisms, including use of local rapid-response institutional review boards (IRBs).

The margin of stability is affected differently when walking under quasi-random treadmill perturbations with or without full visual support.

Background: Sensory-motor perturbations have been widely used to assess astronauts' balance in standing during pre-/post- spaceflight. However, balance control during walking, where most falls occur, was less studied in these astronauts. Twelve-month resistance and impact exercise program or risedronate provides a relative benefit to hip bone structure in postmenopausal women: results from a randomized controlled trial.

Unlabelled: Bone strength estimates are important for fracture prevention. This study compared bone strength changes in postmenopausal women with low bone mass who were assigned to 12 months of exercise, a bone medication, or control. Exercise and bone medications benefited structure at the hip.

Purpose: This systematic review aims to identify, critically appraise, and summarize current evidence regarding the feasibility and efficacy of pelvic floor muscle training in telerehabilitation.

Methods: Three bibliographic databases, PubMed, Embase, and Scopus were searched from inception to October 1, 2023. Clinical trials assessing the feasibility and efficacy of pelvic floor muscle training in telerehabilitation were eligible for inclusion.

Occupational Therapy Practice Guidelines for Adults Living With Alzheimer's Disease and Related Neurocognitive Disorders.

Importance: There are currently 55 million adults living with declining functional cognition-altered perception, thoughts, mood, or behavior-as the result of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related neurocognitive disorders (NCDs). These changes affect functional performance and meaningful engagement in occupations. Given the growth in demand for services, occupational therapy practitioners benefit from consolidated evidence of effective interventions to support adults living with AD and related NCDs and their care partners.

Epidemiology of osteoarthritis: literature update 2022-2023.

Purpose Of Review: This review highlights recently published studies on osteoarthritis (OA) epidemiology, including topics related to understudied populations and joints, imaging, and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) methods.

Recent Findings: Contemporary research has improved our understanding of the burden of OA in typically understudied regions, including ethnic and racial minorities in high-income countries, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Latin America. Efforts have also been made to explore the burden and risk factors in OA in previously understudied joints, such as the hand, foot, and ankle.

Looking back on 30+ years of the Johnston County Osteoarthritis Project while looking forward with the Johnston County Health Study: A narrative review.

Over the last 30 years, knowledge of the epidemiology of osteoarthritis (OA) has dramatically advanced, and Osteoarthritis and Cartilage has been on the forefront of disseminating research findings from large OA cohort studies, including the Johnston County OA Project (JoCoOA). The JoCoOA is a population-based, prospective longitudinal cohort that began roughly 30 years ago with a key focus on understanding prevalence, incidence, and progression of OA, as well as its risk factors, in a predominantly rural population of Black and White adults 45+ years old in a county in the southeastern United States. Selected OA results that will be discussed in this review include racial differences, lifetime risk, biomarkers, mortality, and OA risk factors.

Integrating nutrition and genetic counseling: A case study approach to interprofessional learning.

Interprofessional collaboration is an increasingly important skillset for practicing healthcare professionals including genetic counselors and registered dietitian nutritionists. A multi-part interactive case study activity was created to develop interprofessional skills for graduate students within genetic counseling and medical nutrition training programs at an academic medical center. Feedback from learners who participated in this activity highlights its effect on their post-graduation clinical practice.

Impact of alcohol driving-while-impaired license suspension duration on future alcohol-related license events and motor vehicle crash involvement in North Carolina, 2007 to 2016.

Background/purpose: License suspensions are a strategy to address alcohol-impaired driving behavior and recidivism following an alcohol driving while impaired (alcohol-DWI) conviction. Little is known about the specific impacts of conviction-related suspensions on safety outcomes and given recent fluctuations in alcohol-impaired driving behavior, crashes, and suspension trends, updated and focused assessments of this intervention are necessary. This study aimed to 1) examine the association between type of recent alcohol-DWI suspension and having a secondary alcohol-related license outcome and/or future crash event in North Carolina (NC) between 2007 and 2016; and 2) assess potential modification of these associations by race/ethnicity.

Loneliness status transitions and risk of cardiovascular disease among middle-aged and older adults.

Background And Aims: Loneliness is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), and the levels at which individuals experience it can transition over time. However, the impact of increased loneliness or decreased loneliness on later CVD risk remains unexplored. We aimed to identify the age-specific association between loneliness status transitions and subsequent CVD incidences in middle-aged and older adults.
