Background: Kidney complications associated with anticancer drug therapy have greatly increased recently. We aimed to investigate the real-world clinical outcomes of anticancer drug therapy-associated renal complications in Japan using the national kidney biopsy database, Japan Renal Biopsy Registry (J-RBR).
Methods: From 2018 to 2021, 449 cases from 49 facilities identified as 'drug-induced' histopathology in the J-RBR were screened, of which a total of 135 were confirmed as anticancer drug-related cases and included in the analysis.

Background: The Sensory Organization Test condition 5 (SOT5) assesses an astronaut's vestibular function pre-/post-spaceflight but has a ceiling effect and mainly evaluates standing balance, neglecting the challenges of walking during space missions. A Locomotor Sensory Organization Test (LSOT) has been developed, mirroring the SOT concept but tailored to assess vestibular function during walking. This study aims to advance current knowledge by examining changes in ground reaction force (GRF) during normal walking (LSOT1) and walking in LSOT5 (vision blocked and treadmill speed varied), both with and without mastoid vibrations.

The interdisciplinary nature of health professions education requires exploration of problems by interdisciplinary research teams. Drawing on the Dynamics of Cross-disciplinary Research Development conceptual framework, this study explores the processes and experiences of an interdisciplinary research team, identifying elements of successful collaboration. Case study data were collected from a team of nine researchers from six universities.

Background: Women are at an increased risk of developing psychiatric conditions such as anxiety and depression during pregnancy. Psychiatric conditions during pregnancy can put mothers and fetuses at risk of worse physical and mental health before, during, and after the completion of a pregnancy. Previous research indicates that women pregnant during COVID-19 were at a greater risk of developing mental health conditions and being exposed to stressors.

Objective: Explore the caregiver experience of communicating about differences of sex development (DSD) with their children. Evidence-based guidance regarding how, when, and what information is shared by caregivers is lacking and is needed to inform optimal information sharing strategies for this population.
Methods: Qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 caregivers of children with DSD, recruited from 3 multidisciplinary DSD clinics.

Inflammation is part of natural immune defense mechanism against any form of infection or injury. However, prolonged inflammation could perturb cell homeostasis and contribute to the development of metabolic and inflammatory diseases, including maternal obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver diseases (MASLD). Polyunsaturated fatty acids have been shown to mitigate inflammatory response by generating specialized proresolving lipid mediators, which take part in resolution of inflammation.

In recent history, outbreaks of high-consequence infectious diseases (HCIDs) have raised health security concerns among the global community. As HCIDs continue to emerge, public health systems around the world experience the burden of implementing adequate preparedness and response measures to ensure the safety and security of their populations. HCID outbreak response efforts have highlighted the need for specialized training in safety and infection prevention and control for frontline workers who may encounter ill patients.

Introduction: Communities of Practice (CoP) were created to up-skill educators and to mitigate the disruption to physical therapist assistant (PTA) education because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding CoP involves considering individuals and their interactions, making this project significant for pioneering CoP among PTA educators, and using social network analysis (SNA). The research question for this mixed-methods concurrent triangulation study was "To what extent did the network structure of virtual CoP reflect PTA educators' perceptions of participation and mentorship?"
Subjects: Forty of 60 CoP members participated in this study.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between measures of radiographic joint space width (JSW) loss and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based cartilage thickness loss in the medial weight-bearing region of the tibiofemoral joint over 12-24 months. To stratify this relationship by clinically meaningful subgroups (sex and pain status).
Design: We analyzed a subset of knees (n = 256) from the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI) likely in early stage OA based on joint space narrowing (JSN) measurements.

Background: Individuals who are living with obesity often adopt alternative lower limb walking mechanics compared to persons with a healthy weight. Stair negotiation is a common activity of daily living that, when used consistently with diet and other physical activity, can help promote the reversal of health-related risk factors associated with people who are obese. The purpose of this study was to determine how stair negotiation affects normalized and non-normalized peak knee extension and abduction moments in young adults who live with obesity (BMI between 30 and 40 kg/m) compared to adults with a healthy weight (BMI between 18.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to examine the incidence and progression of foot osteoarthritis (OA), as well as associated factors, in a community-based cohort.
Methods: Baseline (2013-2015) and follow-up (2016-2018) foot radiographs were available for 541 participants (71% women, mean age 69 years; 35% black, 53% with obesity). The LaTrobe Foot Atlas was used to examine osteophytes (OPs, score 0-3) and joint space narrowing (JSN, score 0-3) at 5 joint sites.

Low levels of vitamin D in maternal and cord blood have been associated with neonatal sepsis. This study assessed the association of vitamin D metabolites (25(OH)D, 3-epi-25(OH)D, and 24,25(OH)D) levels in maternal and cord blood with newborn sepsis evaluation in Nigerian mother-infant dyads. Maternal and cord blood from 534 mothers and 536 newborns were processed using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

Background: Long coronavirus disease consists of health problems people experience after being infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). These can be severe and include respiratory, neurological, and gastrointestinal symptoms, with resulting detrimental impacts on quality of life. Although malnutrition has been shown to increase risk of severe disease and death during acute infection, less is known about its influence on post-acute COVID-19 outcomes.
