Heterogeneous catalysis promises to accelerate sulfur-involved conversion reactions in lithium-sulfur batteries. Solid-state LiS dissociation remains as the rate-limiting step because of the weakly matched solid-solid electrocatalysis interfaces. We propose an electrochemically molecular-imprinting strategy to have a metal sulfide (MS) catalyst with imprinted defects in positions from which the pre-implanted LiS has been electrochemically removed.

Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) involving a donor-π bridge-acceptor (D-π-A) structure are considered one of the most promising photocatalytic materials, in which the π bridge is known to play an important role in influencing the photocatalytic performance. So far, much effort has been directed at the designing of the different π bridge structure to facilitate the photo-induced charge separation. However, the orientation of the π bridge units (configurational isomerism) has not been considered.

The unsatisfactory oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) kinetics caused by the inherent lean-oxygen marine environment brings low power density for metal-dissolved oxygen seawater batteries (SWBs). In this study, we propose a seawater/electrode interfacial engineering strategy by constructing a hydrophobic coating to realize enhanced mass transfer of dissolved oxygen for the fully immersed cathode of SWBs. Accumulation of dissolved oxygen from seawater to the catalyst is particularly beneficial for improving the ORR performance under lean-oxygen conditions.

Amino acids are not only the building blocks of proteins but also lead to the development of novel nanomaterials with unique properties. Herein, we proposed a simple strategy to produce gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) with peroxidase-like (POD-like) activities by using a series of amino acids as reducing agents, named Au NPs@M (M represents different amino acids). The Au NPs@His was identified as the nanozyme with the most potent catalytic performance, which was used in combination with smartphones to achieve rapid detection of hydrogen peroxide with a detection limit of 0.

Optical sensors, especially fluorescence sensors, have been widely used because of their advantages in sensing, such as the high sensitivity, good selectivity, no radiation source, and easy operation. Here, we report an example of fluorescence sensing based on two-dimensional (2D) covalent organic polymers and highlight that the material can achieve a fast response and multi-signal output. This 2DP-based sensor can quickly detect aromatic hydrocarbons and Fe by the fluorescence signal or electrical resistance signal.

Developing hydrophobic interface has proven effective in addressing dendrite growth and side reactions during zinc (Zn) plating in aqueous Zn batteries. However, this solution inadvertently impedes the solvation of Zn with HO and subsequent ionic transport during Zn stripping, leading to insufficient reversibility. Herein, an adaptive hydrophobic interface that can be switched "on" and "off" by ionic valves to accommodate the varying demands for interfacial HO during both the Zn plating and stripping processes, is proposed.

Synthesizing uniform functional covalent organic framework (COF) microspheres is the prerequisite of applying COFs as novel stationary phases for liquid chromatography. However, the synthesis of functionalized COF microspheres is challenging due to the difficulty in maintaining microspheric morphology when conferring functions. Here, a facile and universal "self-limited dynamic linker exchange" strategy is developed to achieve surface functionalization of uniform COF microspheres.

Nociceptor is an important receptor in the organism's sensory system; it can perceive harmful stimuli and send signals to the brain in order to protect the body in time. The injury degree of nociceptor can be divided into three stages: self-healing injury, treatable injury, and permanent injury. However, the current studies on nociceptor simulation are limited to the self-healing stage due to the limitation of the untunable resistance switching behavior of memristors.

Electrocatalytic conversion of CO into formate is recognized an economically-viable route to upgrade CO, but requires high overpotential to realize the high selectivity owing to high energy barrier for driving the involved proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) processes and serious ignorance of the second PCET. Herein, we surmount the challenge through sequential regulation of the potential-determining step (PDS) over Te-doped Bi (TeBi) nanotips. Computational studies unravel the incorporation of Te heteroatoms alters the PDS from the first PCET to the second one by substantially lowering the formation barrier for *OCHO intermediate, and the high-curvature nanotips induce enhanced electric field that can steer the formation of asymmetric *HCOOH.

Two-dimensional carbon-based materials have shown promising electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities in mid- and high-frequency ranges, but face challenges in low-frequency absorption due to limited control over polarization response mechanisms and ambiguous resonance behavior. In this study, we propose a novel approach to enhance absorption efficiency in aligned three-dimensional (3D) MXene/CNF (cellulose nanofibers) cavities by modifying polarization properties and manipulating resonance response in the 3D MXene architecture. This controlled polarization mechanism results in a significant shift of the main absorption region from the X-band to the S-band, leading to a remarkable reflection loss value of - 47.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials, known for their distinctive electronic, mechanical, and thermal properties, have attracted considerable attention. The precise atomic-scale synthesis of 2D materials opens up new frontiers in nanotechnology, presenting novel opportunities for material design and property control but remains challenging due to the high expense of single-crystal solid metal catalysts. Liquid metals, with their fluidity, ductility, dynamic surface, and isotropy, have significantly enhanced the catalytic processes crucial for synthesizing 2D materials, including decomposition, diffusion, and nucleation, thus presenting an unprecedented precise control over material structures and properties.

The further development of aqueous zinc (Zn)-ion batteries (AZIBs) is constrained by the high freezing points and the instability on Zn anodes. Current improvement strategies mainly focus on regulating hydrogen bond (HB) donors (H) of solvent water to disrupt HBs, while neglecting the environment of HB-acceptors (O). Herein, we propose a mechanism of chaotropic cation-regulated HB-acceptor via a "super hydrous solvated" structure.

Pure organic phosphorescence resonance energy transfer is a research hotspot. Herein, a single-molecule phosphorescence resonance energy transfer system with a large Stokes shift of 367 nm and near-infrared emission is constructed by guest molecule alkyl-bridged methoxy-tetraphenylethylene-phenylpyridines derivative, cucurbit[n]uril (n = 7, 8) and β-cyclodextrin modified hyaluronic acid. The high binding affinity of cucurbituril to guest molecules in various stoichiometric ratios not only regulates the topological morphology of supramolecular assembly but also induces different phosphorescence emissions.

A bottom-contact organic field-effect transistor (OFET) is easily adaptable to the standard lithography process because the contact electrodes are deposited before the organic semiconductor (OSC). However, the low surface energy of bare electrodes limits utilizing solution-processed single-crystal OSCs. Additionally, the bare electrode usually leads to a significant charge injection barrier, owing to its relatively low work function (WF).

Two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e ORR) is of great significance to HO production and reversible nonalkaline Zn-air batteries (ZABs). Multiple oxygen-containing sp-bonded nanocarbons have been developed as electrocatalysts for 2e ORR, but they still suffer from poor activity and stability due to the limited and mixed active sites at the edges as well as hydrophilic character. Herein, graphdiyne (GDY) with rich sp-C bonds is studied for enhanced 2e ORR.
