Lactonic sophorolipid (LSL) exhibits numerous surfactant activities, such as emulsification, wetting action, dispersion effect, and oil-washing activities. Nevertheless, LSLs have poor water solubility, which restrains their application in the petroleum industry. In this research, a new compound, lactonic sophorolipid cyclodextrin metal-organic framework (LSL-CD-MOFs), was obtained by loading LSL into γ-cyclodextrin metal-organic frameworks (γ-CD-MOFs).

Hyperlipidaemia, a common chronic disease, is the cause of cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and atherosclerosis. Generally, drugs for lowering blood lipids have disadvantages such as short or poor efficacy, high toxicity, and side effects. Rapeseed active peptides are excellent substitutes for lipid-lowering drugs because of their high biological safety, strong penetration, and easy absorption by the human body.

Aging refers to the gradual physiological changes that occur in an organism after reaching adulthood, resulting in senescence and a decline in biological functions, ultimately leading to death. Epidemiological evidence shows that aging is a driving factor in the developing of various diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, immune system disorders, cancer, and chronic low-grade inflammation. Natural plant polysaccharides have emerged as crucial food components in delaying the aging process.

In recent times, dietary restriction (DR) has received considerable attention for its promising effects on metabolism and longevity. Previous studies on DR have mainly focused on the health benefits produced by different restriction patterns, whereas comprehensive reviews of the role of gut microbiota during DR are limited. In this review, we discuss the effects of caloric restriction, fasting, protein restriction, and amino acid restriction from a microbiome perspective.

The Fusarium graminearum species complex (FGSC) can produce various mycotoxins and is a major concern for food quantity and quality worldwide. In this study, we determined the effects of water activity (a), temperature, incubation time and their interactions on mycotoxin accumulation and the expression levels of biosynthetic genes in FGSC strains from maize samples in China. The highest deoxynivalenol (DON), 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol(3ADON) and 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol (15ADON) levels of the F.

In this paper, a novel "liver lobule" microtissue biosensor based on 3D bio-printing is developed to rapidly determine aflatoxin B (AFB). Methylacylated Hyaluronic acid (HAMA) hydrogel, HepG2 cells, and carbon nanotubes are used to construct "liver lobule" models. In addition, 3D bio-printing is used to perform high-throughput and standardized preparation in order to simulate the organ morphology and induce functional formation.

2'-Fucosyllactose (2'-FL) is known for its ability to provide various health benefits to infants, such as gut maturation, pathogen resistance, improved immunity, and nervous system development. However, the production of 2'-FL using α-L-fucosidases is hindered by the lack of low-cost natural fucosyl donors and high-efficiency α-L-fucosidases. In this work, a recombinant xyloglucanase from Rhizomucor miehei (RmXEG12A) was applied to produce xyloglucan-oligosaccharide (XyG-oligos) from apple pomace.

Fusarium ear rot (FER) is a serious fungal disease occurring the late growth stage of maize. FER not only reduces the yield of maize but also causes mycotoxin contamination, which affects the quality of maize and threatens human and animal health. Fusarium verticillioides is the predominant causative pathogen of FER worldwide.

Consumption of water and tea beverages leads to the intake of heavy metals by humans. Development of technology for decontamination greatly reduces the risks of the heavy metal exposure. In this study, environment-friendly chitosan-tartaric acid biosorbents (CTBs) were synthesized by a facile one-step cross-linking strategy to mitigate the Cu(II) and Cd(II) contamination in water and tea beverages.

Lateral flow strip was widely used and their qualitative and quantitative performance was in continuous improvement. However, the traditional strip was in a single-test-line format, which restricted operators to making a semi-quantitative judgment around a desired threshold concentration. Herein, a single strip with three test lines (TTLS) was developed for the semi-quantitative and quantitative determination of deoxynivalenol (DON).

Functional oligosaccharides exert obesity-reducing effects by acting at various pathological sites responsible for the development of obesity. In this study, tamarind xyloglucan oligosaccharides (TXOS) were used to attenuate metabolic disorders via the gut-liver axis in mice with high-fat-diet (HFD)-induced obesity, as determined through LC/MS-MS and 16S rRNA sequencing technology. A TXOS dose equivalent to 0.

Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (Ido) is a tryptophan-degrading enzyme that is widely distributed across species. Ido catalyzes the first step of tryptophan (TRP) degradation and drives the de novo synthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) coenzymes via the kynurenine (KYN) pathway. The budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae possesses a single IDO gene (BNA2) that is responsible for NAD synthesis, whereas a number of fungal species contain multiple IDO genes.

With the high incidence of chronic diseases, precise nutrition is a safe and efficient nutritional intervention method to improve human health. Food functional ingredients are an important material base for precision nutrition, which have been researched for their application in preventing diseases and improving health. However, their poor solubility, stability, and bad absorption largely limit their effect on nutritional intervention.

A high-performance Au@MIL-101/PMMA/DT surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate was fabricated for sensitive and stable detection of paraquat by self-assembling metal organic framework-modified Au nanoparticles (Au@MIL-101) on a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) film and then immobilizing the formed substrate onto a duct tape (DT). The highly closely packed Au@MIL-101 array provided intensive hotspots for SERS sensing. The MIL-101 layer modified on the surface of Au nanoparticles could absorb paraquat to the electromagnetic enhancement area of Au nanoparticles.
