Cancer cell overexpresses numerus proteins, however, how these up-regulated proteins, especially those enzymatically opposite kinases and phosphatases, act together to promote oncogenesis is unknown. Here, we reported that protein tyrosine phosphatase H1 (PTPH1) is a scaffold protein for receptor tyrosine kinase (HER2) to potentiate breast tumorigenesis. PTPH1 utilizes its PDZ domain to bind HER2, p38γ, PBK, and YAP1 and to increase HER2 nuclear translocation, stemness, and oncogenesis.

Objective: To explore the value of preoperative prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and systemic immune inflammation index (SII) for predicting the efficacy and prognosis of patients with osteosarcoma undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) combined with surgery.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients with osteosarcoma undergoing NACT combined with surgery in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from January 2017 to May 2019. The patients were grouped into a remission group (pCR group, 85 patients) and a non-remission group (non-pCR, 79 patients), according to the treatment efficacy.

Tissue transglutaminase (TGM2) is a member of the glutamine transferase superfamily, located within cells and their membranes. When secreted, it catalyzes the cross-linking of extracellular matrix proteins and promotes the formation of extracellular matrix scaffolds. To determine the function of TGM2 in the tumorigenesis of lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), we conducted a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis of TGM2.

An estimated 70-80% of cases of colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRLM) are defined as initially unresectable. "Converting" to no evidence of disease (NED) status may prolong survival. The current study aimed to develop a novel scoring system that predicts the conversion outcome for initially unresectable CRLM.

Objective: To build highly predictive performance models for glioma stratification with radiomics features from non-invasive MRI.
Methods: T2-weighted fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (T2-FLAIR) imaging, diffusion-weighted MRI and diffusion kurtosis imaging were retrospectively collected for 139 glioma cases (2 with grade I, 67 with grade II, 36 with grade III and 34 with grade IV disease). Multi-parameter maps, including the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), mean diffusion coefficient (Dmean), fractional anisotropy (FA), and mean kurtosis (MK), were co-registered to T2-FLAIR, and 431 radiomics features for each were extracted within manually segmented tumour regions.

Iodine-125 (I) brachytherapy, a promising form of radiotherapy, is increasingly applied in the clinical treatment of a wide range of solid tumors. However, the extremely hypoxic microenvironment in solid tumors can cause hypoxia-induced radioresistance to I brachytherapy, resulting in therapeutic inefficacy. In this study, the aim is to sensitize hypoxic areas in solid tumors using ultrasound-activated oxygen microbubbles for I brachytherapy.

Background: In the development of several human cancers, it has been established that neutrophil cytosolic factor 2 (NCF2) plays a major part. Therefore, possible functions of NCF2 in ESCC are investigated in this paper.
Methods: The mRNA/protein expression of NCF-2 in ESCC cell lines and tissues were found based on quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR), western blotting, and immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) typically face aggressive disease progression when metastasis occurs. Here, we screened and identified differentially expressed genes in three microarray datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. We identified 112 differentially expressed genes with functional enrichment as candidate prognostic biomarkers.

Background: Cancer metastasis is the major reason for cancer-related deaths, but the mechanism of cancer metastasis still unclear. Adrenomedullin (ADM), a peptide hormone, functions as a local paracrine and autocrine mediator with multiple biological activities, such as angiogenesis, cell proliferation, and anti-inflammation. However, the expression and potential function of ADM in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remain unclear.

Targeted oncolytic adenoviruses can selectively replicate in cancer cells; combined with traditional chemotherapy drugs, this approach is expected to become an important treatment method for overcoming the current bottleneck of osteosarcoma treatment. Here, we investigate the effect of oncolytic adenovirus Ad11 combined with cisplatin on autophagy in osteosarcoma cells. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect CD46 expression in patients with osteosarcoma.

Inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase type II (IMPDH2) has been found to play critical roles in the development and progression of several human cancers. However, the expression of IMPDH2 and its clinical significance in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is little known. The expression of IMPDH2 in HCC cell lines and tissues were evaluated by Western blotting (WB), quantitative real-time PCR (q-PCR) and immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE-5) is a major isoform of cGMP phosphodiesterase in diverse tissues and plays a critical role in regulating intracellular cGMP concentrations. However, the distribution and expression of PDE-5 in colitis-related colon cancer was still unclear, not even the function and mechanism. Western blotting and ELISA were performed to detect colonic PDE-5 expression in AOM/DSS-induced tumorigenesis model.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignancy with remarkably high prevalence in East Asia. Lines of evidence have suggested the involvement of genetic lesions in the etiology of NPC, together with the contributions of Epstein-Barr virus infection and environmental exposures. Linkage and association studies, either based on candidate genes or genome-wide levels, have been conducted to dissect the genetic variants that contribute to NPC risk.

Background: Targeting the immune checkpoints in solid tumors becomes hot recently. Programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) is ligand for programmed death 1 (PD-1), which is known to negatively regulate T-cell activation. In the present study, we investigated the expression of PD-L1 in tumor specimens of gastric cancer and its relationships with clinicopathological variables and survival.

Bcl-xL/Bcl-2-associated death promoter (Bad) is a proapoptotic member of Bcl-2 family and plays a key role in tumor development. To explore the expression of Bad and its clinical significance in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), we analyzed a large cohort of 437 HCC samples by tissue microarray (TMA)-based immunohistochemistry. Our data showed that Bad expression was markedly decreased in 50.

Objective: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation mostly occurred in lung adenocarcinoma, rarely in squamous cell carcinoma (SQCC). EGFR mutation rate in SQCC varied in previous reports, and the efficacy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in SQCC harboring EGFR mutation has not yet been fully evaluated. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy EGFR-TKIs for Chinese patients with SQCC of lung harboring EGFR mutation.
