Immunosenescence, the gradual deterioration of immune function with age, holds profound implications for our understanding and management of multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. Traditionally diagnosed in young adults, advancements in disease-modifying therapies and increased life expectancy have led to a growing number of older individuals with MS. This demographic shift underscores the need for a deeper investigation into how age-related alterations in immune function shape the course of MS, influencing disease progression, treatment effectiveness, and overall patient outcomes.

Capsaicin, the most prominent pungent compound of chilli peppers, has been used in traditional medicine systems for centuries; it already has a number of established clinical and industrial applications. Capsaicin is known to act through the TRPV1 receptor, which exists in various tissues; capsaicin is hepatically metabolised, having a half-life correlated with the method of application. Research on various applications of capsaicin in different formulations is still ongoing.

Background: Short and rare episodes of atrial fibrillation (AF) are commonly detected using implanted devices (device-detected AF) in patients with prior stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). The effectiveness and safety of oral anticoagulation in patients with prior stroke or TIA and device-detected AF but with no ECG-documented AF is unclear.
Methods And Results: This prespecified analysis of the NOAH-AFNET 6 (Non-Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulants in Patients With Atrial High Rate Episodes) trial with post hoc elements assessed the effect of oral anticoagulation in patients with device-detected AF with and without a prior stroke or TIA in the randomized, double-blind, double-dummy NOAH-AFNET 6 trial.

Introduction: Skin metastases arise in 10% of cancer patients, but standardized dermoscopy diagnostic criteria for skin metastases remain poor. This study's objective was to analyze the dermoscopy features of skin metastases from advanced systemic and cutaneous cancers.
Methods: A retrospective study on 715 dermoscopy images of skin metastases from 33 patients with various primary cancers (breast, ovary, melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancer, and chronic leukemia) attending two academic centers between 2013 and 2023 was performed.

Hemophilia A (HA) is an X-linked recessive bleeding disorder caused by mutations in the F8 gene, resulting in deficient or dysfunctional factor VIII (FVIII). This study aimed to characterize the mutational profile of HA in Romanian patients using next-generation sequencing (NGS) and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA). A total of 107 patients were analyzed, revealing pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants in 96.

In Europe, most HTLV-1-infected individuals originate from highly endemic regions such as West Indies, sub-Saharan Africa, and South America. The only genuine endemic region for HTLV-1 in Europe is Romania where ATL series have been reported among Romanian patients. Our objective is to better understand the origin of this endemic focus based on a study of the genetic diversity of HTLV-1 in Romanians.

The diagnosis and treatment of pelvic bone hydatidosis (BH) present substantial challenges for orthopedic surgeons, requiring collaboration with parasitologists, radiologists, pathologists, and engineers. Surgical treatment selection depends on factors such as the extent of bone loss, soft tissue management, previously applied therapies, and local colonization status. This report details the advanced management of two young patients diagnosed late with severe cystic pelvic BH, an atypical presentation due to their geographic origin and age.

Skin malignant melanoma (MM) is one of the most frequent and aggressive neoplasia worldwide. Its associated high mortality rates are mostly due to its metastases, while diagnosis and treatment of MM in its early stages is of favorable prognostic. Even skin superficial MMs at incipient local stages can already present with lymph node invasion and distant metastases.

Pregnancy is a highly regulated biological phenomenon that involves the development of a semi-allogeneic fetus inside the uterus of the mother. The maternal-fetal interface is a critical junction where communication takes place between the fetal and maternal immune systems, which determine the outcome of the pregnancy. The interface is composed of the decidua and placenta.
