There is a trend to use medicinal plants for primary medical care or as dietary supplements; however, the safety of many of these plants has not been studied. The objective of this work was to determine the toxic effect of the aqueous extract of (), known popularly as "dream herb" and in order to validate its safety. the extract had moderate toxicity on the extract induced eryptosis of 73% at a concentration of 100 g·mL and it inhibited CYP3A by 99% at a concentration of 375 g/mL.

Background: Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) are one of the main bacteria causing urinary tract infections (UTIs). The rates of UPEC with high resistance towards antibiotics and multidrug-resistant bacteria have increased dramatically in recent years and could difficult the treatment.

Methods: The aim of the study was to determine multidrug-resistant bacteria, antibiotic resistance profile, virulence traits, and genetic background of 110 E.

Genus consists of 2 species, Torque teno sus virus 1a and Torque teno sus virus 1b, which are ubiquitous in swine populations, and are widely reported in association with porcine circovirus associated disease (PCVAD). To evaluate the relationship with PCVAD, 100 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue samples were used to detect both species by nested PCR and sequencing. Sixty-eight PCVAD cases were selected as well as 32 porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) non-affected cases.

Pyrophosphate is a byproduct of macromolecular biosynthesis and its degradation gives a thermodynamic impulse to cell growth. Soluble inorganic pyrophosphatases (PPa) are present in all living cells, but in plants and other Eukaryotes membrane-bound H+-pumping pyrophosphatases may compete with these soluble counterparts for the substrate. In Arabidopsis thaliana there are six genes encoding for classic family I PPa isoforms, five cytoplasmic, and one considered to be organellar.

Clinical case of cerebral amebiasis caused by E. histolytica.

Parasitol Res

Departamento de Morfología, Centro de Ciencias Básicas, Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, Av Universidad 940, Col. Cd. Universitaria, Aguascalientes, CP. 20131, Mexico.

Although amebic brain abscess is a rare form of invasive amebiasis, when present, it is frequently lethal. This disorder always begins with the infection of the colon by Entamoeba histolytica trophozoites, which then travel to extra-intestinal tissues through the bloodstream. Amebic brain abscesses are produced when trophozoites invade the central nervous system.

Trophozoites of Entamoeba histolytica express a CD59-like molecule in human colon.

Departamento de Morfología, Centro de Ciencias Básicas, Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, Av Universidad 940, col. Cd. Universitaria, Aguascalientes CP. 20100, México.

In vitro studies have proved the presence of epitopes of CD59 in the surface of trophozoites of Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica). However, it has not been proved if CD59 molecules are expressed in the surface during the trophozoites' tissue invasion.
