Establishing an accurate prognosis for women diagnosed with breast cancer (BC) is extremely challenging. Axillary lymph node (ALN) evaluation is considered of major prognostic value. The one-step nucleic acid amplification (OSNA) assay is currently used for assessing axillary sentinel lymph node (SLN) status in BC.

Comprehensive clinical imaging, histopathological analysis and liquid biopsy-based surveillance of human uveal melanoma in a prolonged rabbit xenograft model.

Uveal melanoma is the most common intraocular tumor in adults. Our group has previously developed a human uveal melanoma animal model; however, adverse effects caused by the immunosuppressive agent, cyclosporine A, prevented animals from surviving more than 12 weeks. In this study, we tested multiple cyclosporine A doses over an extended disease course up to 20 weeks, providing complete clinical imaging of intraocular tumors, histopathological analysis and liquid biopsy biomarker analysis.

Expectations and basic knowledge in ultrasound screening among pregnant women: A questionnaire survey.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the disparity of the expectations and basic knowledge of prenatal ultrasound (US) screening among pregnant women and make a comparison with the current scientific knowledge and national recommendations. We hypothesize that sociodemographic factors, including age, education, and professional occupation, may be associated with different levels of knowledge.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study performed in 2021 of 336 women aged 18 to 46 years in a maternity facility in a tertiary hospital in Portugal.

Drug Rash with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms Syndrome Caused by Itraconazole in a 17-Year-Old Girl.

Drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome is a severe adverse drug-induced hypersensitivity reaction. We report a case of DRESS syndrome in a 17-year-old female caused by itraconazole, confirmed by patch testing, that required treatment with both corticotherapy and cyclosporine. Our case highlights the importance of clinical suspicion of this syndrome in pediatric age and the novelty of an antifungal drug being identified as the culprit.

Factors Influencing Short-Term Patient Survival in Elderly Kidney Transplant Recipients.

Background: For the average patient with end-stage renal disease, kidney transplantation improves quality of life and prolongs survival compared with patients on the transplant waiting list who remain on dialysis. Patients ≥65 years of age represent an increasing proportion of adults with end-stage renal disease, and kidney transplantation outcomes remain controversial in this population. The aim of this study was to evaluate factors that may increase 1-year mortality after renal transplantation in older recipients.

Renal Transplantation in Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody-Associated Vasculitis: A Single-Center 10-Year Experience.

Background: Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) is a common cause of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis resulting in end-stage renal disease. The optimal timing of kidney transplantation for end-stage renal disease due to AAV and the risk of relapse after kidney are poorly defined. Our study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of AAV after kidney transplantation, namely the risk of relapse, rejection, and oncologic disease.
