Purpose: To investigate systemic and ocular toll-like receptor (TLR)-4 expression and its association with oxidative stress markers in ocular rosacea (OR).

Methods: This prospective study included 40 patients with rosacea with ocular involvement and 20 healthy volunteers. Tear break-up time (TBUT), Schirmer test, meibomoscore, and ocular surface disease index (OSDI) scores were estimated for all participants.

Differential Effect of Aldosterone or Mineralocorticoid Receptor Overexpression on Retinal Inflammation.

Purpose: Overactivation of the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) pathway is proinflammatory and contributes to the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy and of age-related macular degeneration. Excess of aldosterone, the specific MR ligand, is known to stimulate the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines in extrarenal tissues and cells. In the RPE/choroid complex, aldosterone upregulated genes encoding proteins of the inflammatory response and downregulated genes encoding proteins involved in synaptic activity and neurotransmitters.

Olaparib as maintenance therapy in non resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma associated with homologous recombination deficiency profile: A French retrospective multicentric AGEO real-world study.

Endometriosis is a complex gynecologic disorder characterized primarily by symptoms of pelvic pain, infertility, and altered quality of life. National and international guidelines highlight the diagnostic difficulties and lack of conclusive diagnostic tools for endometriosis. Furthermore, guidelines are becoming questionable at an increasingly rapid rate as new diagnostic techniques emerge.

Impact of second autologous stem-cell transplantation at relapsed multiple myeloma: A French multicentric real-life study.

A second autologous stem-cell transplantation (ASCT2) is considered for relapsed multiple myeloma (RMM) patients showing prolonged response after a first ASCT. However, given breakthrough treatments like anti-CD38 and immunotherapy, its role remains debated. We conducted a real-life study in 10 French centers (1996-2017) involving 267 RMM patients receiving ASCT2.

Impact of Annual Case Volume on Colorectal Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection Outcomes in a Large Prospective Cohort Study.

Introduction: The adoption of colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is still limited in the West. A recent randomized trial showed that ESD is more effective and only slightly riskier than piecemeal endoscopic mucosal resection; reproducibility outside expert centers was questioned. We evaluated the results according to the annual case volume in a multicentric prospective cohort.

Histoplasmosis in Non-HIV Infected Patients: Another Neglected Infection in French Guiana.

(1) Background: Only a few studies on histoplasmosis in immunocompetent patients have been reported in French Guiana. Therefore, we conducted a detailed clinical description of hospitalized patients suffering with histoplasmosis among non-HIV patients. (2) Methods: This is a single-center, retrospective study conducted at Cayenne Hospital Center between 2008 and 2022.

Comparison of juvenile and adult myasthenia gravis in a French cohort with focus on thymic histology.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease characterized by muscle fatigability due to acetylcholine receptor (AChR) autoantibodies. To better characterize juvenile MG (JMG), we analyzed 85 pre- and 132 post-pubescent JMG (with a cutoff age of 13) compared to 721 adult MG patients under 40 years old using a French database. Clinical data, anti-AChR antibody titers, thymectomy, and thymic histology were analyzed.

Exclusive oral antibiotic treatment for hospitalized community-acquired pneumonia: a post-hoc analysis of a randomized clinical trial.

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to assess the efficacy of different ways of administration and types of beta-lactams for hospitalized community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).

Methods: In this post-hoc analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCT) on patients hospitalized for CAP (pneumonia short treatment trial) comparing 3-day vs. 8-day durations of beta-lactams, which concluded to non-inferiority, we included patients who received either amoxicillin-clavulanate (AMC) or third-generation cephalosporin (3GC) regimens, and exclusively either intravenous or oral treatment for the first 3 days (followed by either 5 days of oral placebo or AMC according to randomization).
