Metabotropic glutamate (mGlu) receptors are candidate drug targets for therapeutic intervention in Parkinson's disease (PD). Here we focused on mGlu3, a receptor subtype involved in synaptic regulation and neuroinflammation. mGlu3 mice showed an enhanced nigro-striatal damage and microglial activation in response to 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP).

Aim: Healthcare givers are exposed to stress and therefore are at risk of the development of pathologies. We aimed to provide recommendations regarding psychosocial risks such as stress, moral distress, burnout syndrome or secondary stress syndrome in neonatal care units to best support neonatal healthcare givers.
Methods: We searched PubMed for articles published from 1 January 2017 to 1 December 2023 by using the keywords burnout OR (moral and distress) AND neonatal unit.

Background: Preeclampsia (PE) contributes to maternal and fetal mortality and morbidity. Supplementation with L-arginine, the precursor of nitric oxide, has not proven effective, possibly due to extensive arginine catabolism in the splanchnic bed. Citrulline is converted by the kidney to L-arginine.

Aim: Infants born very preterm spend their early postnatal life in a neonatal intensive care unit, where irregular and unpredictable sounds replace the structured and familiar intrauterine auditory environment. Music interventions may contribute to alleviate these deleterious effects by reducing stress and providing a form of environmental enrichment.
Material And Methods: This was an ancillary study as part of a blinded randomised controlled clinical trial entitled the effect of music on preterm infant's brain development.

Background: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in extremely low gestational age neonates (ELGANs) was associated with neurodevelopmental impairment (NDI). However, the best endpoint of BPD assessment to predict subsequent NDI remains unclear.
Methods: We re-analyzed the PREMILOC trial, previously designed to test the effect of prophylactic hydrocortisone on survival without BPD at 36 weeks of postmenstrual age (BPD) in ELGANs, to compare predictive models of NDI considering baseline characteristics, respiratory course up to and BPD status at 36 or 40 weeks of postmenstrual age (BPD/BPD).

The patent ductus arteriosus is a very common condition in preterm infants, and a hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus increases morbidity and mortality in these vulnerable patients. However, despite numerous randomized controlled trials, there is no consensus regarding management. Medical therapy is typically offered as first-line treatment, although it yields limited success and carries the potential for severe adverse events.

The impact of hydroxyurea (HU) on the ovarian reserve of female patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) remains poorly elucidated. Only direct histological analysis of ovarian follicle density can effectively evaluate HU's effect on ovarian reserve. By analyzing digitized slides of ovarian tissue from girls and young women with SCD who underwent ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) before hematological stem cell transplantation, we meticulously counted follicles and categorized them based on their growth stage.

Objectives: Radiation proctitis is a misunderstanding complication of chemoradiation in locally advanced cervical cancer. The objective of our study is to provide a detailed description and analysis of predictive factors associated with radiation proctitis in a retrospective cohort of patients treated by chemoradiation for locally advanced cervical cancer.
Methods: All patients treated by exclusive chemoradiation or chemoradiation followed by brachytherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer from 2011 to 2017 were included in the study.

Aim: This study compared neurodevelopmental screening questionnaires completed when preterm-born children reached 2 years of corrected age with social communication skills at 5.5 years of age.
Methods: Eligible subjects were born in 2011 at 24-34 weeks of gestation, participated in a French population-based epidemiological study and were free of motor and sensory impairment at 2 years of corrected age.

Objective: Uterine sarcomas are rare tumors with a poor prognosis. Their diagnosis is often incidental, following surgery. Our goal was to examine the early management strategies for uterine sarcomas, and to assess the impact of guideline adherence and expert center referral on both the management approaches and the clinical outcomes in patients with uterine sarcomas.

Background: The skin is the largest organ in the human body. It provides multiple barrier functions, tactile or defensive, and acts as a mediator allowing for the attachment of vital monitoring devices with medical adhesives. Adhesives consist of several layers with varying compositions and properties.

Objective: To explore the association between induction of labor (IOL) and postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) after vaginal delivery.
Methods: We included women from the merged database of three randomized prospective trials (TRACOR, CYTOCINON, and TRAAP) that measured postpartum blood loss precisely, with standardized methods. IOL was considered overall and according to its method.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common primary liver tumor after hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Management depends on their resectability at the time of diagnosis. Two types can be distinguished by imaging: resectable ICCs amenable to surgery and locally advanced and/or metastatic ICCs, that are treated by chemotherapy, radiotherapy or loco-regional treatment (radioembolization, chemoembolization, intra-arterial chemotherapy and thermoablation).

Background: Owing to its pharmacodynamic properties, especially the rapid onset and short duration of its action, the use of remifentanil in obstetric anesthesia, as well as in neonatology, might be increasingly used.
Objective: We conducted a systematic review to assess the efficacy and safety of remifentanil in preterm and term neonates. Outcomes of interest were neonatal adaptation after fetal exposure; neonatal pain, distress, and discomfort control during invasive procedures; and the occurrence of hemodynamic effects or respiratory depression induced by remifentanil infusion.

Study Design: Searches were conducted in MEDLINE and EMBASE. Studies published between 1990 and 2022 were included if they developed or validated a prediction model for BPD or the combined outcome death/BPD at 36 weeks in the first 14 days of life in infants born preterm.

Objective: To investigate the management and survival of very preterm singletons born because of fetal growth restriction (FGR) with or without maternal hypertensive disorders in France.
Study Design: From a population-based cohort of very preterm births between 22 and 31 weeks in France in 2011, the study population included all non-anomalous singleton pregnancies delivered because of detected FGR with or without maternal hypertensive disorders. Antenatal detection of FGR was defined as an estimated fetal weight <10th percentile with or without fetal Doppler abnormalities or growth arrest.

To describe the frequency and nature of premedication practices for neonatal tracheal intubation (TI) in 2011; to identify independent risk factors for the absence of premedication; to compare data with those from 2005 and to confront observed practices with current recommendations. Data concerning TI performed in neonates during the first 14 days of their admission to participating neonatal/pediatric intensive care units were prospectively collected at the bedside. This study was part of the Epidemiology of Procedural Pain in Neonates study (EPIPPAIN 2) conducted in 16 tertiary care units in the region of Paris, France, in 2011.

Introduction: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) represents a tremendous disease burden following preterm birth. The strong association between compromised gas exchange after birth and BPD demands particular focus on the perinatal period. The mode of delivery can impact on lung fluid clearance and microbial colonization, but its impact on BPD and potential trade-off effects between death and BPD are not established.
