Purpose: Significant improvements in the prognosis for young patients with Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases (PID) and Autoinflammatory Disorders (AID), which together make up the majority of Inborn Errors of Immunity (IEI), have resulted in the need for optimisation of transition and transfer of care to adult services. Effective transition is crucial to improve health outcomes and treatment compliance among patients. Evaluations of existing transition programmes in European health centres identified the absence of disease-specific transition guidelines for PID and AID, as a challenge to the transition process.

Carbonaceous aerosols (CA), composed of black carbon (BC) and organic matter (OM), significantly impact the climate. Light absorption properties of CA, particularly of BC and brown carbon (BrC), are crucial due to their contribution to global and regional warming. We present the absorption properties of BC (b) and BrC (b) inferred using Aethalometer data from 44 European sites covering different environments (traffic (TR), urban (UB), suburban (SUB), regional background (RB) and mountain (M)).

Specialized or secondary metabolites are small molecules of biological origin, often showing potent biological activities with applications in agriculture, engineering and medicine. Usually, the biosynthesis of these natural products is governed by sets of co-regulated and physically clustered genes known as biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs). To share information about BGCs in a standardized and machine-readable way, the Minimum Information about a Biosynthetic Gene cluster (MIBiG) data standard and repository was initiated in 2015.

Introduction: This study aims to evaluate the quality of head CT images in emergency radiology at a public hospital in China and to investigate whether the implementation of an automatic head CT image position correction pipeline can improve radiologists' reading efficiency and reduce the rate of missed skull base fractures.
Methods: A total of 15,560 distinct emergency head CT examinations performed between January 2019 and December 2020 at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital were included in this study. All head CT scans were normalized to Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) space and the orientation matrices were obtained.
The development of low-cost, eco-friendly, and earth-friendly electrode materials for energy storage and conversion applications is a highly desirable but challenging task for strengthening the existing renewable energy systems. As part of this study, orange peel extract was utilized to synthesize a magnesium oxide-silicon dioxide hybrid substrate system (MgO-SiO) for coating cobalt oxide nanostructures (CoO) hydrothermal methods. A variety of MgO-SiO compositions were used to produce CoO nanostructures.

The transition from planar (2D) to three-dimensional (3D) magnetic nanostructures represents a significant advancement in both fundamental research and practical applications, offering vast potential for next-generation technologies like ultrahigh-density storage, memory, logic, and neuromorphic computing. Despite being a relatively new field, the emergence of 3D nanomagnetism presents numerous opportunities for innovation, prompting the creation of a comprehensive roadmap by leading international researchers. This roadmap aims to facilitate collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue to address challenges in materials science, physics, engineering, and computing.

There is a body of evidence that ultrafine particles (UFP, those with diameters ≤ 100 nm) might have significant impacts on health. Accordingly, identifying sources of UFP is essential to develop abatement policies. This study focuses on urban Europe, and aims at identifying sources and quantifying their contributions to particle number size distribution (PNSD) using receptor modelling (Positive Matrix Factorization, PMF), and evaluating long-term trends of these source contributions using the non-parametric Theil-Sen's method.

Soil biogenic components are subject to continuous sequestration, and export from soils into the surrounding air and water environments. However, the processes involving the stability or lability of their mineral states remain still unclear. To assess these issues, we have measured various biogenic components in a number of agricultural, forest, grassland, and deep soils, as well as desert sands from Inner Mongolia, both in the solid state and liquid extracts.

The objective of the study is to explore the image quality and diagnosis performance of the dual-energy CT-derived slope parameter images (SPI) generated by the algorithm based on the slope function in the diagnosis of Crohn's disease (CD). Seventy-six CD patients and 53 disease-free control group subjects who underwent dual-energy CT enterography were retrospectively collected. Portal venous phase 120kVp-like and virtual monoenergetic images at 40-100 keV (VMI) were reconstructed.

In stock markets, nonlinear interdependencies between various companies result in nontrivial time-varying patterns in stock prices. A network representation of these interdependencies has been successful in identifying and understanding hidden signals before major events like stock market crashes. However, these studies have revolved around the assumption that correlations are mediated in a pairwise manner, whereas, in a system as intricate as this, the interactions need not be limited to pairwise only.

Catalysis stands as an indispensable cornerstone of modern society, underpinning the production of over 80% of manufactured goods and driving over 90% of industrial chemical processes. As the demand for more efficient and sustainable processes grows, better catalysts are needed. Understanding the working principles of catalysts is key, and over the last 50 years, surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) has become essential.

Glaciers play key roles in capturing, storing, and transforming global carbon and nitrogen, thereby contributing markedly to their cycles. However, an integrated mechanistic approach is still lacking regarding glacier's primary producers (PP), in terms of stable dissolved inorganic carbon isotope (δC-DIC) and its relationship with dissolved carbon and nitrogen transformation d ynamic changes/cycling. Here, we sampled waters from glaciers, streams, tributaries, and the Indus River (IR) mainstream in the Upper IR Basin, Western Himalaya.

The Roman period saw the empire expand across Europe and the Mediterranean, including much of what is today Great Britain. While there is written evidence of high mobility into and out of Britain for administrators, traders, and the military, the impact of imperialism on local, rural population structure, kinship, and mobility is invisible in the textual record. The extent of genetic change that occurred in Britain during the Roman military occupation remains underexplored.
