Objectives: This study sought to assess the effect of semaglutide 2.4 mg on all-cause death, CV death, and non-CV death, including subcategories of death and death from coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).

Mortality from esophagectomy for esophageal cancer across low, middle, and high-income countries: An international cohort study.

Background: No evidence currently exists characterising global outcomes following major cancer surgery, including esophageal cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to characterise impact of high income countries (HIC) versus low and middle income countries (LMIC) on the outcomes following esophagectomy for esophageal cancer.

Method: This international multi-center prospective study across 137 hospitals in 41 countries included patients who underwent an esophagectomy for esophageal cancer, with 90-day follow-up.

The Double Stitch Everting Technique in the End-to-Side Microvascular Anastomosis: Validation of the Technique Using a Randomized N-of-1 Trial.

Background:  The double stitch everting (DSE) technique, in which time is won by leaving the needle inside the vessel wall in-between stitching, is a modification of the end-to-side (ETS) anastomosis in the interest of reducing anastomosis time. This ensures proper wall eversion, intima-to-intima contact, and improved suture symmetry.

Methods:  We designed an N-of-1 randomized trial with each microsurgeon as their own control.

Comparative Results in a Combined Procedure of Intrastromal Corneal Rings Implantation and Cross-linking in Patients with Keratoconus: A Retrospective Study.

Introduction: Corneal thinning disorders caused by keratoconus often lead to protrusion, irregular astigmatism, and even perforation. The effect of levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel infusion long-term therapy on motor complications in advanced Parkinson's disease: a multicenter Romanian experience.

Chronic treatment with oral levodopa is associated with an increased frequency of motor complications in the late stages of Parkinson's disease (PD). Continuous administration of levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG-Duodopa(®), Abbott Laboratories), which has been available in Romania since 2009, represents an option for treating patients with advanced PD. Our primary objective was to report changes in motor complications after initiation of LCIG therapy.

The clinical and biological significance of MIR-224 expression in colorectal cancer metastasis.

Objective: MicroRNA (miRNA) expression profile can be used as prognostic marker for human cancers. We aim to explore the significance of miRNAs in colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis.

Design: We performed miRNA microarrays using primary CRC tissues from patients with and without metastasis, and validated selected candidates in 85 CRC samples by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR).

The expanding masses of the posterior part of the orbit consist of the intraorbital space occupying processes, located posteriorly to the frontal plain, crossing the anatomic equator of the eyeball. Modern surgery of this part of the orbit is included în the larger field of the anterior skull base surgery. Successful orbital surgery is a multidisciplinary team work, based on precise preoperative diagnosis, adequate surgical technique and comprehensive anatomical knowledge of the operated region.
