Introduction: Equivocal or negative pituitary magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings raise a significant challenge in the management of persistent or recurrent Cushing's disease (CD), compromising the chances of success of a further transsphenoidal surgery (TSS). The aim of our study was to determine the diagnostic utility of 11C-methionine (MET) positron emission tomography coupled with computerized tomography (PET/CT) in localizing the residual or relapsing corticotroph adenoma.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the results of 11C-MET PET/CT performed in two tertiary medical centers between May 2002 and November 2023 in 22 patients with a persisting or recurrent CD after initial TSS and equivocal or negative pituitary MRI findings.

Background: Factors associated with severe COVID-19 infection have been identified; however, the impact of infection on longer-term outcomes is unclear. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 infection on the trajectory of lung function and nutritional status in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF).
Methods: This is a retrospective global cohort study of pwCF who had confirmed COVID-19 infection diagnosed between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021.

Intravascular large B cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a very rare subtype of aggressive non-Hodgkin B cell lymphoma characterized by intravascular proliferation of clonal B lymphocytes, classically associated with pulmonary and cutaneous disease and, less frequently, with central nervous system (CNS) involvement. Brain imaging findings are usually non-specific, with evidence of multiple vascular occlusions and stroke as non-specific multifocal abnormalities. We present an exceptionally rare case of IVLBCL in a patient with unexplained inflammatory syndrome with B symptoms and rapidly progressive neurological impairment, with multifocal hemorrhagic and tumefactive brain lesions seen on MRI.

Purpose: Adrecizumab, a non-neutralizing antibody of adrenomedullin (ADM) was recently investigated regarding its potential to restore endothelial barrier function in septic shock patients with high plasma ADM levels. Circulating dipeptidyl peptidase 3 (cDPP3), a protease involved in the degradation of several cardiovascular mediators, represents another biological pathway strongly associated with outcome in septic shock, although unrelated to ADM. Therefore, the prognosis of patients with elevated cDPP3 may not be influenced by Adrecizumab.

We report effective treatment by interventional catheterization in an infant with the concern to allow adjustment for growth and prevention of vessel damage.

Retrospective studies reported that preoperative oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy increased pathological response (PR) in patients resected for colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). This multicenter prospective randomized (1/1) phase II trial evaluated PR on resected CRLM after preoperative mFOLFOX6 (arm A) or FOLFIRI (arm B) + bevacizumab. The primary endpoint was the major pathological response rate (MPRR), defined as the percentage of patients presenting CRLMs with mean tumor regression grade (TRG) < 3.

Objective: Sutureless aortic valves are an effective option for aortic valve replacement (AVR) showing non-inferiority to standard stented aortic valves for major cardiovascular and cerebral events at 1-year. We report the 1-year hemodynamic performance of the sutureless prostheses compared with standard aortic valves, assessed by a dedicated echocardiographic core lab.

Background And Aims: Routine screening for Methicillin-Resistant (MRSA) in pregnant women is common practice in many hospitals. However, little is known on its prevalence and clinical relevance in this population. In this prospective longitudinal study, we aimed to investigate the MRSA prevalence in our obstetric population, the rate of vertical transmission of MRSA and the potential clinical relevance of MRSA colonization for both mother and child.

The methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) sequence type (ST) 8 Panton-Valentine toxin (PVL)-positive USA300 clone has a worldwide distribution. The USA300 North American (NA) variant, harbouring the arginine catabolic mobile element (ACME), is predominant in the USA while the Latin American (LV) variant is predominant in Northern South America. Both variants have failed to become endemic in Europe.

The distal tibiofibular syndesmosis (DTFS) is frequently injured during ankle trauma. The sequelae can be significant, including chronic instability, early osteoarthritis and residual pain. The aim of this study is to summarize the current state knowledge about these injuries by answering four questions.

Purpose: Young women with germline mutations have unique reproductive challenges. Pregnancy after breast cancer does not increase the risk of recurrence; however, very limited data are available in patients with mutations. This study investigated the impact of pregnancy on breast cancer outcomes in patients with germline mutations.

Clinical significance of distal deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is important as it can potentially result in pulmonary embolism (PE), DVT extension, DVT recurrence and post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). Controversy remains about the necessity and modalities of anticoagulation in all distal DVT. Evaluation of the efficiency of a 40-day weight-based low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) treatment in a cohort of 119 consecutive patients with distal DVT.

Asparaginase (ASNase) is an important anti-leukaemic drug in the treatment of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). A substantial proportion of patients develop hypersensitivity reactions with anti-ASNase neutralising antibodies, resulting in allergic reactions or silent inactivation (SI), and characterised by inactivation and rapid clearance of ASNase. We report results of a prospective, real-time therapeutic drug monitoring of pegylated Escherichia coli (PEG-)ASNase and Erwinia ASNase in children treated for ALL and NHL in Belgium.

Aims: To evaluate the relationships between pulmonary transit time (PTT), cardiac function, and pulmonary haemodynamics in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and to explore how PTT performs in detecting pulmonary hypertension (PH).
Methods And Results: In this prospective study, 57 patients with advanced HFrEF [49 men, 51 years ± 8, mean left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction 26% ± 8] underwent echocardiography, right heart catheterization, and cardiac computed tomography (CT). PTT was measured as the time interval between peaks of attenuation in right ventricle (RV) and LV and was compared between patients with or without PH and 15 controls.

Objectives: To compare real life effectiveness and safety of nivolumab in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), according to age and Eastern Cooperative Group performance status (ECOG-PS).
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of patients treated with nivolumab for NSCLC within a Belgian compassionate use program from July 2015 until December 2016. Safety and effectiveness were compared between patients aged ≥70 years and < 70 years and between ECOG-PS 0/1 and ≥ 2.

Objective: Data from a trial of first-line panitumumab plus FOLFIRI (folinic acid, infusional 5-fluorouracil and irinotecan) in metastatic colorectal cancer were retrospectively analysed to investigate the effects of primary tumour location and early tumour shrinkage on outcomes.
Methods: Patients with RAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer from a single-arm, open-label phase II study (NCT00508404) were included. Tumours located from the splenic flexure to rectum and in the caecum to transverse colon were defined as left- and right-sided, respectively.

Background: Patellofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) and anterior knee pain sometimes are considered contraindications for unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). However, several studies have demonstrated excellent patient-reported outcome scores in patients with patellofemoral OA treated with medial mobile-bearing UKA. Because these studies assessed the outcome of mobile-bearing UKA only, we were interested to see whether that finding also applies to fixed-bearing medial UKA.

Background: Healthcare-associated infections (HCAI) are still a major problem especially in most intensive care units (ICU). Incompliance by clinical staff with hand hygiene (HH) increases rates of preventable infections.
