An 83-year-old male patient presented to the outpatient clinic with complaint of swelling at right antecubital area. Ultrasonographic examination of the right upper extremity revealed a mass lesion within the right cephalic vein, which was consistent with thrombus. A computed tomography (CT) venography showed contrast enhancement in cephalic vein at distal arm and an aneurysmatic thrombus area displaying regular borders with a size of 28*30 mm; there was no contrast enhancement at more proximal levels at the cephalic vein.

Background: Rheumatic mitral valve stenosis (RMVS)-induced left atrial thrombus (LAT) and embolic complications may have clinically devastating consequences. Stasis in the left atrium induced by valvular obstruction is a major factor in the development of thrombus. However, the development of thrombus may not be solely associated with stasis, as it is known that the inflammatory process increases the tendency for thrombosis.

Background: Fractional flow reserve (FFR) has become an established tool for guiding treatment, but its graded relationship to clinical outcomes as modulated by medical therapy versus revascularization remains unclear.
Objectives: The study hypothesized that FFR displays a continuous relationship between its numeric value and prognosis, such that lower FFR values confer a higher risk and therefore receive larger absolute benefits from revascularization.
Methods: Meta-analysis of study- and patient-level data investigated prognosis after FFR measurement.

In the absence of mitral valve disease left atrial (LA) volume is a marker of diastolic dysfunction and its severity. This study investigated the relationship between left ventricular (LV) end diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and LA volumes and phasic atrial functions detected by real-time full volume three-dimensional echocardiography (RT3DE), in a patient population with preserved LV systolic function. Seventy-two (39 female and 33 male; mean age 56.

Chronic upper limb ischemia is an uncommon clinical condition and is most often caused by subclavian artery stenosis. Surgical and percutaneous treatment modalities have been shown to be effective for the management of subclavian artery occlusion. Because of lower mortality and morbidity rates, percutaneous interventions for subclavian arterial occlusions are more acceptable than surgery.

Background: Left ventricular filling pressure (LVFP) is raised by the compromised contraction and impaired ventricular compliance in dilated hearts with systolic dysfunction. Timely recognition and staging of this condition are important for planning of the treatment strategy and making the prognosis. Two-dimensional speckle- tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) has recently enabled the quantification of left atrial (LA) myocardial deformation dynamics.

Objective: No data exist on the functional relevance of collateral vessels in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Also, the subtle effects of improved collateral flow on right ventricular (RV) function are difficult to assess. However, novel echocardiographic approaches like tissue-Doppler imaging (TDI) and two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2DSTE) can quantify RV regional myocardial function.

A rarely reported complication of pacemaker lead extraction is embolization of the pulmonary vasculature by a fragmented lead tip. The tip fractured and migrated to the right pulmonary artery during the extraction, and it was successfully retrieved percutaneously. Percutaneous retrieval is an important treatment option of an embolized fragmented lead tip as it could sometimes lead to disastrous complications.

Background And Aims: We aimed to assess the characteristics of glucose utilization in left and right ventricle (LV, RV) myocardium with F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) on positron emission tomography in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and to evaluate whether predominance of RV glucose metabolism as compared with that in LV relates to clinical, hemodynamic, echocardiographic, and neurohormonal parameters.
Methods: The study group comprised 23 patients with PAH and 16 healthy controls who underwent FDG positron emission tomography. The ratio of RV uptake (u) of FDG to those of LV was used as a marker for the glucose utilization by RV myocardium.
