Intraoperative radiofrequency ablation for unresectable abdominal paraganglioma: a case report.

For pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL), the efficacy of percutaneous ablative therapies in achieving control of metastatic tumors measuring <3 cm had been demonstrated in only few reports, and intraoperative radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of locally invasive primary PPGLs has not been reported. We presented the case of a 31-year-old man who had a 9-cm functioning unresectable PPGL. He was treated with 13 cycles of cytotoxic chemotherapy without objective tumor response, according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST).

Overt nickel and cobalt hypersensitivity after pipeline embolization device placement: A case report.

Nickel and cobalt are frequently found in metallic alloys used in the manufacture of aneurysm clips and endovascular prostheses, such as the pipeline embolization device (PED). Nickel hypersensitivity can affect up to 15% of the population, however, it is very rarely overt in patients who undergo endovascular stent placement. Here, we present the case of a 35-year-old woman who developed allergic symptoms after PED placement and was later confirmed to be allergic to both nickel and cobalt by patch testing.

Introduction: Meningiomas are the most common primary brain and central nervous system tumors, accounting for approximately 40% of these tumors. The most important exams for the radiological study of meningiomas are computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We aimed to analyze the radiological features of patients with meningioma related to the simultaneous presence of bilateral macronodular adrenocortical disease (BMAD), with or without pathogenic variants of ARMC5.

Postural balance in COPD with obstructive sleep apnoea: a cross-sectional study.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the postural balance in COPD patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Physical activity, anxiety and depression symptoms, mood, and falls were also assessed in this population.

Methods: Moderate to severe COPD patients were assessed for laboratory and clinical postural balance (force platform and mini-balance evaluation systems test (Mini-BESTest)), physical activity (accelerometry), OSA (polysomnography), sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index), sleepiness (Epworth Sleepiness Scale), anxiety and depression symptoms (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), dyspnoea (modified Medical Research Council), clinical status (COPD Assessment Test) and mood (Brunel Mood Scale).

Diagnosis and rehabilitation of an infant with palatal mucormycosis: A clinical report and systematic literature review.

Statement Of Problem: Oral mucormycosis is uncommon in pediatric patients with hematolymphoid diseases. Prosthetic rehabilitation is challenging, and protocols are scarce in the literature.

Purpose: The purpose of this clinical report and systematic literature review of case reports and case series was to describe the clinicopathologic aspects of oral mucormycosis and the interim prosthetic rehabilitation of an affected infant.

Background: Nail involvement is frequent in patients with psoriasis (Pso) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and there is a relationship between nail involvement and inflammation of the enthesis. The main objective of the present study is to describe the ultrasound findings and clinical characteristics of nails from patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis with and without nail dystrophy.

Adverse reactions induced by MDT/WHO (Rifampicin+Clofazimine+Dapsone) and ROM (Rifampicin+Ofloxacin+Minocycline) regimens used in the treatment of leprosy: a cohort study in a National Reference Center in Brazil.

Reconstruction of large scalp defect in a brown howler monkey (Alouatta guariba clamitans): A case report.

This case report describes different repair techniques used to reconstruct a large scalp defect in a brown howler monkey (Alouatta guariba clamitans) hit by a vehicle. Three reconstructive procedures were performed in two surgical stages. The repair techniques had successful outcomes on the patient's rehabilitation.

Effects of constant-load exercise and high-intensity interval training on reliever medication consumption and peak expiratory flow in individuals with asthma: a randomised controlled trial.

Introduction: The effect of aerobic training on reliever medication consumption (short-acting β-agonist (SABA)) and peak expiratory flow (PEF) in participants with asthma is poorly known. The comparison between constant-load exercise (CLE) and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in these outcomes has never been tested. The purpose of the present study was to compare the effects of CLE or HIIT in SABA consumption and PEF improvement during an exercise programme in subjects with asthma.

Compression for preventing recurrence of venous ulcers.

Background: Up to 1% of adults will have a leg ulcer at some time. Most leg ulcers are venous in origin and are caused by high pressure in the veins due to blockage or damaged valves. Venous ulcer prevention and treatment typically involves the application of compression bandages/stockings to improve venous return and thus reduce pressure in the legs.

Implications of MTHFD2 expression in renal cell carcinoma aggressiveness.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common type of cancer in kidney and is often diagnosed in advanced stages. Until now, there is no reliable biomarker to assess tumor prognosis during histopathological diagnosis. The Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 2 (MTHFD2) overexpression has been suggested as prognostic indicator for RCC, however, its protein profile needs to be clarified.

Acute kidney injury in children undergoing cardiac surgery: predictive value of kidney arterial Doppler-based variables.

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common condition in critically ill children and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to assess the performance of point-of-care ultrasonography to predict AKI in children undergoing cardiac surgery.

Methods: In this prospective study, consecutive children underwent kidney Doppler ultrasound examination within 24 h following cardiac surgery, and an experienced operator obtained both renal resistive index (RRI) and renal pulsatility index (RPI).
