Purpose: This study evaluates the Social Return on Investment (SROI) of implementing measures to prevent fragility fractures in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis (OP) in Spain.
Methods: A group of 13 stakeholders identified necessary actions for improving refracture prevention and assessed the investment required from the Spanish National Health System (SNHS), considering direct, indirect, and intangible costs over a one-year period. Unitary costs were sourced from scientific literature and official data, and intangible costs were estimated through surveys on women's willingness to pay for better health-related quality of life.

(1) Background: This article addresses the harmful traditional practice of breast ironing, which primarily affects girls and adolescents in several countries, particularly in Cameroon. The practice involves applying heat and pressure to developing breasts to delay their growth, with the goal of protecting girls from sexual abuse, early pregnancy, and forced marriages. While culturally accepted, breast ironing has severe physical, psychological, and social consequences, including damage to mammary glands, pain, infections, and potential long-term health complications.

Individuals diagnosed with functional neurological disorder experience abnormal movement, gait, sensory processing or functional seizures, for which research into the pathophysiology identified psychosocial contributing factors as well as promising biomarkers. Recent pilot studies suggested that (epi-)genetic variants may act as vulnerability factors, for example, on the oxytocin pathway. This study set out to explore endogenous oxytocin hormone levels in saliva in a cohort of 59 functional neurological disorder patients and 65 healthy controls comparable in sex and age.

Introduction: Clinical trials have validated the use of nivolumab and pembrolizumab as adjuvant therapies regarding relapse-free survival in patients with resected stage III and IV melanoma. Evidence in real-world patients is currently limited.
Material And Method: The CADIM trial (characterization of adjuvant immunotherapy in melanoma patients) recruited a total of 81 patients with resected stage III and IV melanoma on nivolumab or pembrolizumab as adjuvant therapy from February 2018 to December 2022.

We report here a new ligand for the peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor type α (PPARα), an N-tosyl hydrazone benzopyran that was designed throughout the mapping of the polar zone of the binding site of PPARα; such a compound displays a strong activity on this receptor that is comparable to that of the reference compound WY-14643. For the design of the -tosyl hydrazone benzopyran, we have carried out an exhaustive conformational study of WY-14643 and a previously reported hydrazine benzopyran derivative using conformational potential energy surfaces (PES). This study allowed us to map in a systematic way the entire binding site of the PPARα.

Aims: The interstitial space is the major compartment in which the excess fluid is located, forming peripheral congestion in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The lymphatic system is responsible for the constant drainage of the compartment. In ADHF, the inefficiency of this system causes extravascular fluid accumulation, underscoring the crucial role of lymphatic system failure in ADHF's pathophysiology.

The elbow is one of the most commonly dislocated joints. Although simple dislocations of the elbow usually resolve with conservative management, certain patients can experience residual chronic instability. Posterolateral rotational instability accounts for approximately 80% of elbow chronic instability cases.

An in-depth analysis of susceptibility factors modifying the penetrance of rare Leber hereditary optic neuropathy-causing mutations in respiratory complex I genes encoded in mitochondrial deoxyribonucleic acid has not been performed. To bridge this gap, we conducted a review of the literature on rare mutations associated with LHON, selected those with substantial evidence of pathogenicity, and performed an in-depth analysis of the various pedigrees. Examining the influences that modify the penetrance of the classical mutations associated with this disease may offer insights into susceptibility factors in individuals carrying the rare mutations.

The purpose of this study is to provide a detailed account of our successful experience in establishing a functional zebrafish holding facility by repurposing materials from a previous installation. On the eve of the start-up of our new animal facility we were notified that a research centre was putting part of its zebrafish holding facility (29 racks, accessories, water treatment unit) up for sale. Although the originally planned room was designed for six double racks, but encouraged by the increasing use of the zebrafish model, we decided to seize the opportunity, purchase the equipment and utilize it to create a larger configuration and an independent quarantine to protect the main facility.

Electronic address:
Therapies targeting human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer significantly impact patient outcomes, quality of life, and health care systems. While chemotherapy and trastuzumab improve survival in early-stage HER2-positive breast cancer, variability in clinical and biological characteristics leads to different response to therapies and outcomes. Clinical guidelines provide general recommendations, but significant uncertainty persists in identifying an optimal treatment plan for individual patients.

Introduction: Understanding the diverse pathogenetic pathways in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is crucial for improving outcomes. microRNA (miRNA) profiling is a promising strategy for elucidating these mechanisms.
Objective: To characterize the pathogenetic pathways linked to OSA through the integration of miRNA profiles, machine learning (ML) and bioinformatics.

Objective: The diagnosis of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) is often established retrospectively leading to a delay in detection. This work presents a clinical care algorithm that aims to facilitate the recognition of the secondary progressive phase of the disease, analyzing its usefulness and the feasibility of its implementation in routine clinical practice.
Methods: The algorithm was developed in four phases: 1) choice of validated diagnostic tools for the detection of progression; 2) assessment of these tools based on experience of use, applicability, time consumed, perceived usefulness and suitability for a profile of a patient in transition to SPMS; 3) framework and final sequence of application; 4) feasibility evaluation through application in clinical practice.

Background: Alemtuzumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody approved for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Its efficacy and safety have been widely demonstrated in clinical trials, but experience from real-world cohorts is also needed to support its clinical use. Quality of life (QoL) outcomes are an important complement to the clinical benefits of treatment, offering a patient-centered perspective on how the drug contributes to general well-being.
