Adipose tissue is a dynamic endocrine organ, a highly active metabolic tissue, and an important source of cytokines. Inflammatory factors play an important role in visceral obesity associated with insulin resistance (IR), metabolic syndrome (MS), hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2), endothelial dysfunction (ED) and atherosclerosis. To examine corelation of siMS score, as a quantification method for metabolic syndrome (MS), with insulin resistance, glucoregulation parameters, as with other co-founding factors of MS, inflammation and thrombosis factors, microalbuminuria, uric acid, fatty liver index (FLI) and homocysteine.

Introduction: There are still no definite curative or preventive strategies for COVID-19 disease. It is crucial to fully comprehend the pathogenesis of COVID-19 infection so that we can develop expedient pharmacological protocols. While the impact of cytokine storm on COVID-19 severity has been one of the most tested hypotheses, the role of bradykinin and various other oxidative stress markers has been relatively under-researched.

Background: Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a multisystemic autoimmune disorder characterized by thrombotic events and/or gestational morbidity in patients with antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL). In a previous single center study, APS-related clinical manifestations that were not included in the classification criteria (livedo reticularis, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia) were associated with the presence of circulating immune-complexes (CIC) formed by beta-2-glycoprotein-I (B2GP1) and anti-B2GP1 antibodies (B2-CIC). We have performed a multicenter study on APS features associated with the presence of B2-CIC.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive malignancy for which cytotoxic chemotherapy remains the backbone of treatment. Trilaciclib is an intravenous cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitor that induces transient cell cycle arrest of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and immune cells during chemotherapy exposure, protecting them from chemotherapy-induced damage and enhancing immune activity. Administration of trilaciclib prior to gemcitabine plus carboplatin (GCb) significantly improved overall survival (OS) compared with GCb alone in an open-label phase II trial in patients with metastatic TNBC, potentially through protection and direct activation of immune function.

Background: Coagulation dysfunction represents a serious complication in patients during the COVID-19 infection, while fulminant thrombotic complications emerge as critical issues in individuals with severe COVID-19. In addition to a severe clinical presentation, comorbidities and age significantly contribute to the development of thrombotic complications in this disease. However, there is very little data on association of congenital thrombophilia and thrombotic events in the setting of COVID-19.
